  1. That sounds great, would mesh well with the numerous bars and restaurants...just make sure there's some Studio Ghibli and I'm there ;)
  2. @Bic Basher there are some utilities located within the Settings > Security menu. All depends on your version of Android and sometimes the phone makers out some featured in too. My phone sends me an SMS to an alternative number if the SIM card changes for example but you may find some apps on the Google Play store (might check some out myself!). I also have phone insurance that includes theft because I really dont fancy taking any chances.
  3. I would have said the same thing. From what I remember if my says working at a Co-op, if there's no security you need two witnesses and even then, if you challenge them and they bolt for the door, what are you going to do? Plus I want paid enough to care about that. If there's no security then so be it. Even security guards have limited powers and it's such a common occurrence. It is frustrating though, I agree.
  4. Thank you everyone for your invaluable advice. I am going to go for some CBT training and a scooter, I think it could become my best friend! And I'll definitely go from London Bridge - Charing Cross seeing as it does seem to be a little easier! Good to know I have options mind you. I've put my interest in for the flat, sadly there's a few others going for it too...got my fingers crossed now, I have my heart set on moving here! Still, if all falls through there's plenty more flats in the sea...
  5. I'm a Scot and I detest the idea of independence which I think is just that - an idea. Most people back home that I know who are for independence can't even justify it. They see it as draping the Saltire at the window and one-upping the English or generally like the idea of having more parliamentary power. However I don't think one of them could explain how they would continue to fund the higher education system, free prescriptions, bus passes, etc. Unemployment is high and I can't see Westminster being so generous with money if Scotland are so arrogant to assume that they can survive on industry alone (what industry?! oil? Until that runs out...). What I will say is that since I have moved down to London I have noticed that there is practically no news about Scotland, whereas in Scotland there is often news about England and of course Westminster, it being the hub of all dodgy dealings. I worked at the Scottish Government and see huge differences but that's a whole other story...
  6. Charing Cross is ideal for me of course. Saying that I'm happy to get to London Bridge and either change to Charing Cross or jump on the Jubilee line. All in all I'm quite happy to sit for 20 - 25 minutes though I'll mostly be travelling off peak which should cut that down a little. Great, thanks :)
  7. Perfect, thank you! I'm sure I can handle a few anti social kids, just launch their IPod out the window...
  8. Hi everyone, I've spotted a flat I like in East Dulwich. It's on Lordship Lane, just across from Dulwich Park. I currently live in Hammersmith and love the close proximity to my work (near Westminster), however the price of renting here is far too overpriced and as I have only lived in London for a year I'd like to explore a bit more! What I would like to ask is what the area is like generally. I work shifts so at times I would be heading for the train station at half past five in the morning, and sometimes I would be arriving home around half past six in the morning (though I'm not so worried about that). It is important to me that I feel 'safe' which I know is more of a subjective thing. Do any other young women feel relatively safe out and about at these times? Can I also ask what the buses are like early in the morning/late at night safety-wise? I have noticed the buses go through a couple of not-so-nice areas, however I would never be travelling there, just passing through to Charing Cross. Sorry for the huge post, thank you if you have read through! My first impression of East Dulwich is that it is a lovely place, I noticed lots of eateries and a few pubs. Thank you for your advice, it really is appreciated :)
