My Mum used the same turn of phrase. Not long after my Dad died she went on her first foreign holiday to Rome with my Aunt, and when I asked her what she was going to eat whilst away, she replied ''Pizza, I shan't be eating any foreign muck''... :)
  2. Thanks for the update Mick. I hope the new owner doesn't change ST's name, kinda suited him...
  3. Like I said, the inclusion of Cecil is a bit of a giveaway...

So how come when you first saw the pic there wasn't an audible sharp intake of breath and the sound of milk bottles dropping to the floor coming from you, and instead we get a 'witticism' about Cilla's hair? Still, why give up an opportunity to come charging in with your People's Pitchfork when it suits. FWIW, I think the only thing that the pic is mocking is the 'grief industry' that kicks into gear every time a so-called celebrity snuffs it, Cecil the Lion is a bit of a giveaway in that respect doncha think?...

Mine was also Brum in '79, my oldest brother had gone to Poly there and married a local girl. They invited me down when it was my birthday in October. Around that time there was the Two Tone/Mod revival buzz going on, so because of it's close proximity to Cov, I was pretty excited and arrived all skinny tie suited up, only to find Brum was full of grebos*...balti curry was fantastic though. *I spent a couple of weeks in Brum during the summmer of love in '88, and it was still full of grebos...Brum, the city that music forgot :)

  8. I suspect that when someone famous dies the 'loss' people speak of is more personal than they realise, the loss of a time now gone...cheer up everyone, it's Monday :)

I just heard a 'like' at the end of a sentence from a propa saaf Londoner, never noticed it before. Scousers tend to put an 'errrr' on the end of their 'like'...know what I mean like-errrr?

  13. It's the traditional curtain-raiser Charity Shield this weekend, so that means it's also pre-season prediction time. On present squads I can't see any change in the top 4, but it will be much tighter than last season, so I'll plump for...wait for it...Arsenal!...followed by Chelsea, Utd, then City. Liverpool, who despite having bought well, will be hampered by the Europa League and will stay in 5th, and unless Spurs do some great business before the transfer window closes, will be a distant 6th. At the other end of the table, in the season before the big TV money kicks-in, I expect there'll be lots of jittery, trigger happy chairmen, and a couple of big names to go down...Newcastle and Villa, along with Watford. I think West Ham will struggle, but their fans will be happy...allegedly

This is all starting to sound like the modern day equivalent of the old car/penis size theorem. Quite happy with my 26''er...

  16. More of a head nodder than a foot stomper, but groovy nonetheless...
  17. Welcome Foxy, good to see a new face...

  19. Your hands, and eyes, have got bigger...
  20. There was that period last season when he was agitating for a move until Tony Pulis rocked up. What's the odds that it was his agent prompting him, similar pattern to Sterling. Looks like he saw sense, probably thanks to Pulis...

  23. He's going to get it in the neck from opposing fans this season. His agent worked for an established agent group and went solo, looks like he's used Sterling to try and make a name for himself. I see his other client, Berahino, dropped him pronto. Don't blame him...
  24. I can already hear the sniggers emanating from the West Midlands... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/33651263
