  1. Suzanne James and her team are simply the best caterers and I would recommend without hesitation. We first met Sue 8 years ago when she catered the brunch following our Civil Partnership (which was stunning) and subsequently she has catered a few work and personal events for us. Most recently, she catered my 50th Birthday Party at home last weekend which was incredible. The event was flawless - with the friendliest, most accommodating and professional service team I have experienced, who went out of their way to make guests feel relaxed and special, with a constant attention to detail and refilled glasses. And the food was amazing, from the creativity of the canapés to the tasty selection of bowl food. How she and her team managed to produce such consistently incredible and artistic food throughout the evening from our home kitchen was a feat of monumental proportions. Sue's recommendations on the menu needed little input from me and the trust was not misplaced. I’m rarely at a loss for words but I can’t think of enough superlatives to describe the impact and taste of the food. Quite fabulous. And, the discreet diligence in tidying up without disturbing the ongoing party was hugely appreciated, meaning we descended bleary-eyed on Sunday morning to a clean kitchen, able to savour the happy memories of the night before without having to face a clean-up operation. Thank you!
  2. Julian did an outstanding job for us last year fitting wardrobes in our bedroom, building bespoke bed side cabinets and creating a study. He came back a couple of weeks ago to do a smaller job creating a new cupboard unit. Would recommend him without hesitation. He has an incredible eye for detail, knows how to maximise space, comes up with creative solutions and is meticulous in his work. He listens carefully to what you want, comes up with great ideas and he's a really nice guy.
  3. Julian has just finished fitting fabulous new wardrobes in our bedroom, created bespoke bedside cabinets and redesigned our study. Would recommend him without hesitation. His creativity in maximising the space was great, the quality of work excellent and attention to detail impressive. Julian was really diligent, taking great care to ensure precise measurements even to the millimetre to ensure that the erratic angles of our floors and ceilings didn't compromise the look of straight lines. Julian is a great communicator to ensure that you are kept informed during the project and can make decisions with him as you go. Open and transparent in his pricing, reliable and thorough, very happy to recommend him.
  4. Also happy to recommend AFE Plumbing Services. I found their recommendations on the EDF. Aria called me back within 15 minutes of me leaving a message last week, came when he said he would to give me a quote, arranged an appointment for the next day (yes next day!!), his friendly and helpful guys turned up on time, sorted out the leak from the water tank in the loft, repaired the bath and fixed and outdoor tap, arranged for someone else to service the boiler within 48 hours. I am still waiting for another plumber I left a message for to call me back a week on, during which time Aria has got everything sorted, saved my ceiling and left me with an excellent impression. Highly recommended.
  5. Pleased to report Humphrey returned last week - he had obviously been locked in somewhere as was thin and ragged but back safe and sound and doing brilliantly. Make sure you check those sheds and garages before you go off on holiday! Thanks for the help and advice. Cheers James
  6. Morning East Dulwich. Thanks for keeping an eye out for Humphrey, still Missing in Action for a week. Some photos are attached to help identify him in the midst of ED's other gingers!
  7. Thanks @clockworkorange. Have PMd you. He has been known to go visiting!
  8. Thanks @Singalto. I have put flyers through letterboxes with no luck but posters are a great idea.
  9. Sadly no sight of Humphrey. Feeling lost without him! Thanks for asking.
  10. Thanks @Medusa, struggling to upload photos (size limit keeps blocking me for a single photo), but distinctive stripes, a white bib under his chin, a shaved spot on his front paw after a vets visit and a small scratch above his. Appreciate any help to find our little fella Thanks
  11. Hi there, Humphrey our 3 year old, neutered ginger tom with a small scratch over his eye is currently MIA, Silvester Road / Whateley Road area.He is microchipped. Could you please keep an eye out and check he is not locked in anywhere. He has been known to wander into other homes (but is shy) but has never gone missing before. Please PM if you have any news. Many thanks, J
  12. Try David (07714 114283). Lots of recommendations for him on the forum which is where we found him - initially for a one off clean but now use him regularly. Very reliable and good work
  13. Happy to recommend Scott (07709 287931) who came round at short notice after we had been let down by someone in the midst of some other work and did great work on a number of jobs for us. A really nice guy, worked hard, very fair pricing, and is looking for extra work.
  14. Got the recommendation for Dave Reilly (PlasterCare) on the forum and very happy to add a recommendation for him. He came and sorted out our damp problem this week. Turned up when he said he would, identified the problem and didn't try and push work that didn't need doing, worked quickly, left the house in great shape and very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend.
  15. Hi there, we have a new extractor fan to be fitted in our kitchen (East Dulwich) which is slightly bigger than the existing one, so need a slightly bigger hole drilled and the fan fitted . We have been let down by someone who was due to come and the decorators are here today and tomorrow, so if anyone can help late this afternoon please PM me. Thanks James
  16. oh LondonMix, who knew such an innocent question of 23 April could reignite such passions which have been quietly hibernating over the winter months....... I vote for keeping Brissi in the old East Dulwich Deli (have developed a cushion and soft lighting addiction), opening a Prada (spring collection of shoes, hats, handbags and trans-seasonal trousers) in lieu of John Barnett and a Prawn-Mayo-on-Brown-Bread-with-corners-cut-off Sandwich Shop in the old "Golden City" on Whateley Road On your marks.....
  17. The guys opposite the Plough are really good and always very helpful. We have had several things done there and always been pleased. Avoid the one on North Cross Road.
  18. Presumably the councillors made an informed decision on the basis of the facts presented to them and the balance of reasonableness, rather than "rolling over" - had they been persuaded by the counter arguments they would have voted against it; that is what we vote them in to do. If you don't like their decisions, vote them out at the next election and hold them to account for the promised reviews. As for "no-one is a winner except m&s and freeholder" is odd if, as suggested by the delivery debate, a significant number of people will use the store, providing new choice on the high street and draw in people who will doubtless also bring additional custom to existing caf?s, restaurants and other great shops on lordship lane.
  19. Do a search on here for "Back to Wood" - they did our home and have great recommendations
  20. Fantastic - another great addition to Lordship Lane. Can't wait. Sushi and cinema....!
  21. I don't think it is wasteful; I for one am glad to see the council being proactive and improving the infrastracture of the area
  22. We use Dulwich Cars for regular early morning runs to Gatwick, usually very reliable and well priced, give you a discount if you book a return.
  23. Seriously? Throwing sand at a cat?! Should take you to Celia Hammond for a collar and a snip!! The micro-chip cat flaps are great and easily fitted even into glass.
  24. Really excited to see the development plans today, some really thoughtful designs. This will be a fantastic addition to the area and can't wait for them to get cracking.
