  1. The tv is a few years old. I'll try & upgrade my firmware on the TV as NomDePlume has suggested. Thank you!
  2. Can anyone technologically minded help. We have a Samsung TV which has built in Freeview. For some reason though, it won't connect to Freeview (or anything for that matter). We don't have an external aerial so have to make do with a inside aerial (which worked fine for the last TV). There is no actual TV aerial point in the flat though (only some old Sky leads that are no longer used) so it's saying that there is bad signal when I'm trying to get it connected. I'm at a loss as to what to do, does anyone have any ideas?
  3. Hi. I lost my keys around there. there are 3 keys on the keyring with one key ring that's a baseball cap with Elvis written on it & another cotton key chain from Vegas. I don't suppose these are them?
  4. Thanks so much everyone for your advice. I think my best bet is to just keep it as it is & just pray it's not too cold a winter!
  5. Thanks for the response. The room has got radiators but doesn't have warm air heating. It's in a block of flats, built in the 1940's/50's. If anyone else is able to offer any advice, I'd be most grateful!
  6. Just after a bit of DIY/building advice. I have an air-vent in my bedroom, it's positioned quite high up on the wall, it's got a sliding vent grill on it. The air-vent is a little bigger than the usual size. Unfortunately the walls in the flat aren't cavity insulated & it's a pretty cold room, especially in the winter time as has 2 external walls & is north facing. The windows in the bedroom have trickle vents. To try & make the room a little warmer this winter, is it safe to block the air vent, maybe with polystyrene or newspapers until after the cold season & put the grill vent back on? I'm hoping it'll take some noise away too from the road nearby. The room has previously had damp issues & is quite problematic. Anyone able to offer any advice on my dilemma & what I should do?
  7. Please PM me if you can provide me with a quote for repair/replacement of boundary walls & retaining walls to a property in ED - these could include demolition/repair/rebuilding of some walls. Thanks
  8. I lost a set of keys (either lost in or around ED / Peckham over the wknd). I think they fell out of my handbag. They have a baseball hat key ring with Elvis written on them. If you've found them please pm me. Thanks!
  9. I'd be keen to do this too!
  10. It's one of the shops on the parade by Barcelona's Tapas Bar (opposite the old Harvester/Grove Tavern on Lordship Lane)
  11. Meant to write this ages ago & then forgot. I'd second this recommendation by Champ - Two Brothers is definitely worth a visit. Portions are really generous, food is pretty tasty & what makes the trip that bit better is that one of 'the brothers' is particularly good looking too!
  12. To kitchen drawer which dropped / broke so front needs fixing/drilling back - can anyone help? Very small job, just don't have the tools - thanks!
  13. This is a very small job but I don't have the tools to do it & I'm a little scared in case I do it wrong so was hoping someone can help & let me know what they'd charge. I need to descale the cartridge in my bath/shower mixer tap - it's a job that will take minutes once I get the cartridge out. Hoping that once I find out how to do it I can do it myself next time. Can anyone help?
  14. Managed to get this fixed very quickly & reasonably by a local handyman. All up & running now. Thanks for those replies. This is a very small job, I don't have the tools to do this so was wondering if someone can quote me. I just need someone to come out & make a hole in the side of a kitchen cupboard so I can fit a tumble dryer plug through. It's a sealed plug & invalidates the warranty if we take it off. There's a small hole in the cupboard from an existing cable that was threaded through, so it just needs making bigger. Can anyone help?
  15. Thank you so much for all your help. I'll give this a go this week, much appreciated!
  16. Just need some advice & would be grateful if anyone could advise what I should do. My bathroom ceiling was peeling in some parts so I removed the chipped paint with a paint scraper but instead of filling it (as some parts were quite big) I painted it over with primer. I'm not sure if I should have patched it first with a patching compound & sanded it before priming it. I can see the difference in the parts that weren't chipped away now to the parts that were. Any advice as what I should do would be much appreciated.
  17. Can anyone help, just wanted some advice - my ceiling light in a room was working & when I put on a new ceiling light shade & turned it back on, it wasn't. I put in another lightbulb & it made no difference & didn't turn on but the bulb worked in another room. Is this easily fixed? I've checked the trip switch / fuse box & that's okay. Can anyone help / advise?
  18. Mine has packed in - it's an old fashioned wall clock that is battery operated. I've tried replacing the battery twice but it keeps stopping. Can anyone recommend anywhere that could look at it/hopefully fix it for me?
  19. I know this isn't in East Dulwich but it's just around the corner in Forest Hill on Dartmouth Road & definitely deserves a shout out.. really good food at really reasonable prices & amazing cocktails too - definitely worth a visit when you're in the area!
  20. Nope, no confusion, it was definitely Sunday when we all went. I've just called them & they've told me that they've decided not to continue the Sunday quiz.
  21. Yep, they have one on a Sunday evening too as well as the regular one they have every Thursday.. give it a go, it's really good fun!
  22. Just wanted to recommend the brilliant pub quiz that takes place at The Plough every Sunday. I went last week for the first time with some mates & we had the best time, really good atmosphere, great evening. The guy that runs the quiz is really good - we'll definitely be back!
  23. Can anyone recommend a handyman who can carry out some minor Fire Risk Assessment works to communal areas in a block of flats:- installing a manual electric break call point system & fitting door closers & intumescent seals to some doors. We need someone who is able to commission/certify the job to comply with Fire Risk Regulations. If you know of anyone please can you let me know. Many thanks!
  24. I'm relaying some flooring at home & wondered if anyone has used Fashion Floor before? If so I'd be really grateful if you could let me know what they are like for laminate flooring (quality wise) & whether their fitting service is any good too? They are really reasonable so I'd be really grateful to hear if you've used these guys before & for your feedback before I decide what to do. They are based just opposite Loughborough Junction station. Thanks!
