  6. A documentary about children living in a slum built on landfill in Paraguay who learn to play instruments made from recycled rubbish and form an orchestra which tours the world. Landfill Harmonic, rather aptly, will be shown in the Visitor Centre at the Veolia waste recycling depot in Devon Street and will be preceded by the chance to be in a live junk orchestra. Screening on Thursday 10 September, 8pm, at 43 Devon Street (off Old Kent Road) London SE15 1AL (doors 7.30pm) If you wish to take part in the live junk orchestra (see below), please arrive at 7pm. This is the the London premiere of Landfill Harmonic: A symphony of the human spirit (Dir: Brad Allgood and Graham Townsley, 2015, United States, Brazil, Norway, Paraguay Cert U, 84 mins). Landfill Harmonic follows the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura, a Paraguayan musical group that plays instruments made entirely out of garbage. When their story goes viral, the orchestra is catapulted into the global spotlight. Under the guidance of idealistic music director Favio Chavez, the orchestra must navigate a strange new world of arenas and sold-out concerts. The event is free but to attend you need to book by registering your interest as spaces are limited. Email: [email protected]
