  1. I'm having a problem with clothes moths, they have eaten into my lovely persian rugs and my cashmere cardigans! Someone told me its the the moths larvae (caterpillars) that are the culprits and eat into natural fibres around the home. Has anyone encountered the same problem and how does one get rid of them?
  2. Thanks for the advise everyone (i'm still no wiser!) main concern was Autism linked to MMR. But i done some research and read peoples views. I still have a little time to consider and make my decision.
  3. I'm a mother of 2 twins under 2 years old. My Doctor keeps asking me about vaccinating them for MMR. I am not fully sure or understand the implications of vaccinating - or not. I keep hearing bad stories about vaccinations and side effects , which make me deciding, even more complicated. Ofcourse my childrens health are paramount and come first. Anyone has any thoughts on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
  4. I've seen quite a few around that little Park on Dog Kennel Hill - i think they all round out of Sainsburys for food and play in the park. They are huge ones!especially around the back of the store and near the recycling bins at night. Its no wonder even the cats don't even attempt to go near them!
  5. Noise nuisance is unacceptable no matter what time of day. The Council has a duty to keep their tenants safe from anti-social behaviour. You should phone Council and the Police, so each incident is logged onto their computer systems.
  6. What a dreadful thing to happen, especially after they enjoyed a nice night out ice-skating - yes i think you gave your sons good advice by telling them its better to give up a phone then receive a broken nose. Did you get the descriptions of the 3 menacing youths, so we can all be vigilant?
  7. I was'nt sure what the burglary rate was over this Xmas/NY period, usually its peak, but i contacted local Police and they had'nt released any information. I had heard that a friends neighbour being broken into over the period along Northcross road.
  8. Yes i agree, any animals regardless of their threat to man, has the right to live on the planet with us. Who are we to choose what lives and what does'nt? We have to adjust to them, not them to us.
  9. Apparently rats of 2 feet long are quite common in built-up parts of London, where they have constant access to our food wastage, bins etc and they grow to quite large sizes these days. I see quite big one walking along the Paddington canal on the way to work, they never bother me, but the cats don't even go near them a local houseboat owner told me, as their too scared to tackle the large ones! P.s Prunella, itmust have been very unsettling to have seen a large one jump out in front of you, yes they are all weather animals and do not hibernate (ifound that bit of info' on the internet). Be careful as they spread harmful diseases.
  10. I might have been mistaken but i'm sure i saw Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie doing their weekly shop at the Lordship Lane Co-op the other day, they were in the baby section, buying nappies. I should have taken a picture and sold it to Hello! magazine.
  11. I had no idea that burglaries were running at 50-60 per month on average for the East Dulwich area - that seems so high for such a small part of London! I'm just wandering what the figures are for 'high crime'areas of London...! It must be horrendous. Great tips 'TIGERMOUNTAIN' - i'm going to keep alot of them in mind and use them for securing my own properties and properties of my 2 friends who had already been burgled in the Dulwich area.
  12. I'm disgusted by such cruelty to a defenceless woman in a wheelchair! Whats become of society when we pick on the defenceless and weak? They should be ashamed of themselves.
  13. Yes sorry to hear about your break-in 'Kermit' unfortunately its becoming more prevalent, as we are all at work in the daytime, thats why its imperative to spend a bit of money on securing ones premises and giving the burglars a hard time - i was pretty lax with my security until i heard about my friends break-ins. Now i have motion sensor at the back area and motion security lights. I don't want to alarm anyone, but they do come back after being burgled as they know you have to replace all things that went missing!. I would if i was on ground floor, have metal grilles patio and windows. 'James Barber' in reply to your question, my friends burglaries happened quite recently, in fact 2 weeks ago! It seems like they catch one thief and another one quickly takes their place!. (or many more at large...). Top notch preventative security is the key i think as well as vigilance.
  14. I don't want to scare anyone, but just letting people be aware that there has been a spate of house burglaries in and around the Dulwich areas, especially streets off Lordship Lane. 3 of my local friends have have had break-ins 2 in East Dulwich and 1 in Dulwich Village recently. They were all left shaken and lost sentimental items, which are irreplaceable. I spoke to the local PCSO and she told me that these professional burglars hit a local area , then move to another, during the day or night. Its disheartening to be told that, apart from leaving a fingerprint or DNA, they get away with it many times over. So please all be vigilant and do beef up your security! we don't want the burglars/criminals to win!.
