  1. Imaginary pedestrians. What an extraordinary comment! That is just how I feel when I try to cross the road at Dulwich Common. Roads are for everybody pedestrians, cyclists and not just motor vehicles. It is time we redressed this balance.
  2. I find it very difficult to believe that a plane flying at nearly 7 miles high would sound like this. Not all planes appear on Flight Radar as far as I am aware.
  3. Found this afternoon on pavement by P4 and P13 bus stop on South Circular opposite Lordship Lane Estate 3 keys (one car, one house + one other). We put them on the top of the rubbish bin by the bus stop.
  4. I understand why the P13 would have problems with The Tulse Hill railway bridge if it was a double decker but I don't think the P4 would suffer from a similar problem.
  5. Is there a reason why both of these routes are operated with single decker buses? I presume that it is normally because they go under low bridges but I can't think of anywhere on the routes that this applies. The greater capacity of double deckers would certainly help.
  6. So if councillors and MPs can make no progress, To whom is TFL responsible?

It is a very sad indictment of the state that we are in that pedestrians and cyclists are unable to cross the road from one side of Lordship Lane to the other at The Grove Tavern because of the inadequacy of the crossing facilities. Crossing going Northwards towards East Dulwich, is particularly frightening as the view of traffic coming down The South Circular and turning left at Dulwich Common is effectively blind. How long do we have to wait for TFL and Southwark to sort this out? They made the situation even worse this Summer by removing the Advanced Cycle Lane Box that used to be there when the road was resurfaced.
  8. The interesting thing about the church is that it is Grade II listed. It was constructed between 1873 and 1875 and the Tower built later in 1885. It was designed by Charles Barry Jnr. What intrigued me was the new external windows which appear to be made of clear perspex. They have been cut to the Gothic shape of the windows frames.
  9. Yes it was released as surplus to requirements by the Church of England a number of years ago and is now occupied by the Deeper Life Bible Church. The war memorial that you mention is on the site but not part of the church.
  10. No vicar I am afraid as the church now belongs to The Deeper Life Bible Church.
  11. Does anybody know what is happening to the building at St Peter's Church at Dulwich Common? They seem to have had some quite elaborate clear perspex covers installed over all of the windows and quite extensive scaffolding to the rear visible from Cox's Walk. It is an attractive Victorian building and good to see that work is being carried out but I am curious about what is happening. There are no planning notices posted so that doesn't help.

Do you have any idea about what is happening about the replacement of the Advanced Cycle Lane and Box on the South Circular at The Grove Tavern which was removed when the road was resurfaced? In late June you and Caroline Pigeon were assured by TFL that it would be replaced by early July.
  13. James. I am sorry to have to raise this again but another month has gone by since the promise was madeto you to reinstate the Advanced Cycle Lane Box by early July. It is certainly no longer early July and nothing has happened. Yet another promise has been broken by TFL! Would you and Caroline Pigeon mind chasing this yet again? It is disgraceful that you should need to have to do this but we all appear to be being treated with contempt by TFL.

  16. James. Nearly three more weeks have passed. Have you heard anything further back from TFL or from Caroline Pigeon the London Assembly Member to whom you were going to escalate this matter?
  17. I agree. I was waiting for the 15.35 at W Dulwich. The online app said it was close then it just disappeared off the list of buses and went to the next bus 15 minutes later. Very frustrating.
  18. James. 10 days ago you said that you had still not heard anything back from TFL about the reinstatement of the Advanced Cycle Box at this very dangerous junction. Have you heard anything further yet? Everyday I watch cyclists heading down Lordship Lane trying to find a place where they can get through this junction safely. At the moment there is just nowhere to go. This can't be right! There will be an accident very soon.
  19. This is extremely disturbing however this is not new work just the reinstatement of what was there previously before the resurfacing. Surely this is a matter for the contractor to correct at their cost.
  20. James. Have you had any further reply from TFL about what they propose to do about rectifying this omission?
  21. Interestingly, absolutely every junction on on this stretch of th South Circular has an advanced cycle box. Why would this particular junction be any different?
  22. Except that it hasn't been recreated has it? Before there was something now there is nothing. Not a lot of consolation if you are heading down Lordship Lane and get hit by left turning truck or car.
  23. James. As requested I have attached a photo of the new road markings. As can be seen the pre existing green box and lead lane has completely disappeared. In contrast the green box heading in the opposite direction from Dulwich Common towards Forest Hill has been replaced.
  24. James Ruffers is absolutely right there was a green cycle box with a lead in lane from the left hand kerb.This is clearly shown on Street view. There is now nothing at all. I will take a photograph in the morning and post it for you. The Scheme Engineer is demonstrably wrong.
  25. James. Thank you for your help with this. It is truly frightening for cyclists heading down Lordship Lane towards East Dulwich. They are now pushed into the left hand lane and are forced to proceed in front of all the cars and lorries turning left onto the South Circular at Dulwich Common. A recipe for disaster!
