  1. If you're stuck for an idea of what to do with the family at bank holiday or want to do something fun for a special birthday or team building with the co-workers ? and want to learn a new skill, then I'd heartily recommend giving Home Cooking se24 (http://homecookingse24.co.uk/) a try. Some people already know them for their delicious home cooked Italian takeaways, but if you want to try your hand at a little cooking then Jo and Toto ( the owners) will help you put together a menu that you can learn to cook together on a day of your choice. Jo and Toto are great fun and will tailor the menu that you cook to fit your budget and bring all of the ingredients to your home. By the end of the day you'll be a little versed in the ways of Italian cooking as they take you through it step by step and explain the process to you. The best part is that you also get to enjoy eating what you've rustled up in the kitchen. I booked Homecooking24 as something different to do for a birthday treat and everyone had a wonderful time. Wouldn't hesitate to do it again! Home Cooking se24's website is http://homecookingse24.co.uk/ and for reference, we cooked ravioli, maccheroni al ferretto (knitting needle pasta) and tiramasu in two groups of a total of ten people.

  3. Open House London are running tours of the Concrete House in September- link here http://events.londonopenhouse.org/building/17481
  4. Please add another 3 to the list for Sat- see you there!
  5. I'd say maybe the easiest thing to do is build or purchase some raised beds or planters. Saves ripping up any slabs and will also look great. The added is you can take them with you when you leave! You can even make the concrete box into a planter too, just knock together a frame to fit on top of it and line it with a bag. If you spend a bit of time on it, it will look beautiful.
  6. If you see a sick or injured bird or anywhere else, the best thing you can do is take the bird to Pigeon Recovery, an excellent sanctuary where the birds are assured of the best possible treatment. They are at: 8 Vermont Road Sutton Surrey SM1 3EQ They will care for them and feed them until they are ready to be released. Or you can go to this website http://www.savethepigeons.org/sickbirds.html and someone will pick them up from you if you email them. The RSPCA will just put them down. Most of the stuff you read about pigeons spreading disease is rubbish spread by pest controllers (otherwise everyone who kept pigeons professionally would be dead as a dodo). I just rescued a baby pigeon and found him/her to be very intelligent and generally lovely little critter- and was sad to see him go when we dropped him off at the rescue place. They do poo a lot though so you'll have to put newspaper down would be my only advice if you are going to keep them in the house until they are picked up.
