  1. Ready made polenta cornmeal is pretty high in protein bit boring though alternatively you could make it on the hob with stock (for taste) and set in the fridge then cut into shapes.
  2. Thanks for that info and allaying my concerns. Sounds lovely and easy going, I'm sure I'll find out more on the day.
  3. Thanks for that info Pickle. Actually it's Ivydale school Nursery so not east dulwich but thought they might be the same. I haven't received any information regarding her first day. I believe there's a uniform for the school but don't think this applies to the nursery. Maybe I'll get more info on the day she starts.
  4. Hi my daughter will be starting at a school nursery next week in the afternoon after lunch 12.30 to 3.30. She has never been to a nursery before she's 3.5. Consequently I have no idea what she should need or is allowed to take if anything. Should she have a bag does she need spare clothes, coat or jumper? Should she take snacks/drink, will she be allowed a favourite toy or is that a bad idea? Also she's really into dressing up at the moment and I'm sure this will be a bit of a battle ground can they wear fancy dress or is this going to cause funny looks from teachers and possible arguments with other kids. Any thoughts. Thanks
  5. I flew with 2 to the south of france the flights only 2 hours so should be fine by the time they've got over the excitement of take off and had a bit of food and explored the toilets it's time to land again. I'd be wary of the steps up to the plane, 2 children and hand luggage is impossible to handle and I've never had help from the flight attendants luckily another passenger has always rescued me. Don't be afraid of asking for help! Sitting near others with children is good to as they can stare/wave at each other over the seats, plus the parents are more understanding of the hardship. Good luck
  6. Blow into their face just before you dunk them and they take a gulp and hold there breath for a couple of seconds
  7. You hear a blood curdling scream coming from downstairs, you run as fast as you can into the living room to find your daughter can't separate two bits of Lego!
  8. We used a normal ikea cot with 1 side removed in the higher position. We cut the cots legs so the mattress was the same height as our bed and made sure there was no gap/movement between by tying the legs to the bed. This only works if your bed has no edge. Then baby slept beside me with their own covering. At one point we had one on each side for both children sort of like our bed had wings!
  9. My daughter suffered from cold after cold when very little and I found her blocked nose the hardest thong to deal with. It's so upsetting for them. I tried the nose unblocker and calpol nasal spray, but I found the only reliable way was sucking out yourself sorry gross I know. Press finger on one nostril and suck gently on the other spit contents into handkerchief. It really isn't as bad as it sounds! Then put olbas oil on your bra while feeding. It really is upsetting when they can't feed. good luck
  10. I ate at tandoori nights the night before I went into labour with both my girls and they were both exactly a week early. I also ate lots of pineapple, drank buckets of raspberry leaf tea, had plenty of sex and walked a mile a day. I was desperate to get things going!! In the end my waters broke with both I think they were fed up with the abuse and kicked open the door. Good luck
  11. Thanks elloriac I think I'm going to have to go for the pink and get lots of stickers to decorate it with.
  12. Where can i get a Mini micro scooter that's not pink or blue without buying online. Am really late in getting my daughter's birthday present. My other daughter has a pink one so need a different colour to differentiate. Thanks Oh I've tried Soup dragon they only have the pink and blue ones.
  13. Hi When my daughter was six months old. I sent her photo to a few agencies. Norrie Carr wanted her and took pictures for free there was no joining fee. Although if you want to renew after a year you have to pay ?70 for new photos. We got plenty of work but here's where the good experiences ended. I found the agency rude if I couldn't make an audition, they expected me to turn up the day after a phone call and change any other plans. When I didn't want her in a particular advert for SMA they thought I was being ridiculous. The model almost dropped my baby in a cover shoot. There's lots of waiting around at shoots very boring. She got paid up to six months after the job. The only good thing is the pay which we put in her child trust fund. But I couldn't take longer than 6 months as I was pregnant and it would be almost impossible to do with 2 children to look after. To top it off they still kept calling me months after I'd told them I couldn't do it anymore.
  14. Any chance there's some other explanation like does the heating switch on around that time, sometimes radiators can make a noise when this happens or sounds from neighbours getting up/alarm clocks.
  15. Don't know about the childrens activities but when I was at the Geffrye museum with my kids they tried to sit on all the antique furniture and kept setting the alarms off it was pretty difficult. The battersea park children's zoo is amazing though with absolutely tons of activities, playgrounds and demonstrations for kids. You need a clear day for it though.
  16. Does anyone know if the east London line is running to highbury & islington yet?

    New Clutch

I shall try South London Clutch Centre for a quote, I've got that hard decision as it's due it's MOT and a needs a new clutch an I don't know whether to get a new car or spend approx ?600 (including MOT) on getting this fixed. The trouble is the car's probably only worth about that much but it has a recently new engine and good bodywork and to me is worth a lot more than what I reckon I could get elsewhere for ?600. I don't know whether it's better the devil you know.

    New Clutch

I got a quote for a new clutch (between ?400-500) this is from Dulwich Test & Service Centre on Hindmans Road. I normally go there and think they give a fair deal. He said I should try one of the big Clutch Replacement Service Centres where I might get a better quote. Does anyone know what a fair price is for a new Clutch I have no idea. My car's an old banged up '96 ford mondeo Thanks for your advice
