  1. Hello -

We were meant to be getting one but they are having supply chain issues at the moment so there is a wait and we got our deposit back. The company are pretty small as well so weren't that easy to communicate with for such a high priced product so proceed with caution. It's a shame as I have heard they are great car seats and we are squidging three car seats in the back instead!

  2. CF has so many digestive issues I'd be very surprised if these hadn't shown up before now. My brother has it and he had lots of health issues v early (particularly tummy and food related) that led to the diagnosis. They check for 35 or so of the known mutations when they screen. I'd imagine they are just double checking. Good luck - not knowing what a health problem is can be so stressful.
  3. Hi - every baby is different, and in the first few weeks I don't think it works to skip feeds while you're establishing apply. But you can have someone bring you a baby, change nappies, resettle etc without doing so. Also my three children have had bottle and breast from the start with no problems and Ive actually found expressing keeps my supply up (though would thoroughly recommend renting Medela symphony pump) As with the twins i express at 8.30, go to bed, husband feeds 10/11pm one and I do night one so I get more sleep. But it is about working out what works best for your baby and not putting too much pressure on yourself!
  4. Yes that's right - and there is the bonus of not going via an agency so fairly reasonable. I'm not sure how much she has done with twins. Speaking from my experience with my twins (now over 2) I'd definitely get some night help in the first month or two - and go for someone who has done twins before. It will help keep you that bit more sane and more able to continue breastfeeding as well, keeping your energy levels up. Good luck - the first few months are really tough but having twins is special and keeps getting better!
  5. Currently on baby number 3 (with twin 2 yr olds) I recently hired Annette Sawatzki who is a local lactation consultant and maternity nurse. It was mainly to give me a couple of good nights sleeps (I express milk as well as b-feeding so easy to hand over a feed or two). For anyone having breastfeeding woes or generally needing support with the early weeks of a new baby I'd definitely recommend her. She's a lovely, gentle woman and even though it was a pretty small job she really took the time to get to know me and my family and was very helpful. She has a website Www.annetzki.com
  6. Hi,

My twins had desperately wonky heads and we ended up with the helmet treatment. Happy to answer qs on the condition (they had plagiocephaly) if you want to send me a pm. I also used the pillows and am doing so with baby number three as preventative measure. The Swedish ones are pretty good. I also tried cranio osteopathy - did nothing, physio via GP - helpful but too late! And lots of tummy time - at least they crawled fairly quickly!

  7. Another baby boy has joined the spring babies collective! Alexander Hugo Fife was born on Monday morning by c-section. A mere 36hrs later I was home and enjoying settling Alex in with his twin sisters who are currently quite excited by 'baby alex' No doubt the novelty will soon wear off! I'm trying to take the recovery pretty slowly but hopefully will get to meet some of the other little ones soon.

  8. I should be able to meet on Tuesday as well and will be toddler free. I'm finishing work this Thursday and - hoping - for a fairly relaxed couple of weeks before the arrival of number 3 babe.

Congratulations to Jo on Arthur - very impressed with the walk down Denmark Hill!

Jenny - I can always give you a lift on Tues too can check in on the day to see how you're getting on

  9. Wow 2 and a half hour labour - that's great! Congratulations!

Sorry I missed Saturday, had boiler crisis at home, all now fixed though bank account feeling very sorry for itself. I just had to keep telling myself that at least it wasn't in a month's time clutching a new baby!

Hopefully see some of you and the - I'm sure gorgeous - new babies soon.

  10. Hello,

I'm afraid I can't make tonight now - but should be on for Saturday morning though. I have a midwife appt first thing so hopefully it won't run over. Thanks all the organisers for sorting out venues!

Also - a slightly random request but my work is looking for some mum's to take part in a focus group next Tuesday 6th March and I wondered if anyone knew anyone - a ?30 cash incentive for attendees. Required: Mums with a child under three to attend the group from 6.30-8.30pm, in London Bridge. We?re looking for mums to come on their own, rather than bringing their children. ?30 incenctive ? anyone interested should contact [email protected] or call 020 7403 2230.

  11. Hi Emmy,

(I think we met via spring mums group) I think v important is that you realise that everyone's experience is different and just try to take things as they come. Breastfeeding the twins definitely the best thing to do but don't beat yourself up if things don't go completely smoothly, try to get lots of help from midwives/ health visitors etc and every day you do manage to breastfeed is great.

I never managed to feed them simultaneously, though lots of people do, I always fed one after the other (depending on which one more desperate. I did feed them in a routine which I didn't find caused any problems in terms of my milk supply, and for me it meant I felt some vague sense of knowing what was going to come next so I could rest/ rehydrate/ get on with other things in the time between feeds. In my personal experience it also helped the girls synch their nap times (phew). At nighttime too I would feed the one who woke up first and then wake the second one, which again I think got me more sleep overall.

I found the Medela Symphony (hospital grade - rental, I got mine via a website called expressyourselfmums) absolutely amazing and a lifesaver in terms of being able to share the night feeds with husband or anyone else able to help. I'm definitely going to get it again for number #3 - it's so efficient it only took me 20 mins to get enough for a feed for both twins. I didn't have any problem with the girls getting nipple confusion with bottles, but every baby is different. I did also get the entirely unsexy hands free bra for the actual expressing, and this too was great.

As everyone else has said just try and get lots of help in the early days and take it as it comes. Good luck!

  12. Hello,

I've been a bit slow to join this list but I am another Spring Baby-ite - due on 8th April, with my 3rd baby (I already have 19 month year old twins) so life will be a bit hectic to say the least!

I can do 1st (but not 8th) and Saturdays are good for me too and it would be great to meet some of you soon! I know countjc/jenny but couldn't make the last meeting
