  1. A quick note to say what a fab service I've had from Billy Hunter at Hunter Heating Solutions.

I noticed a mystery leak in the airing cupboard before xmas which was gradually getting worse. I found someone on here who came out to take a look then cancelled due to sickness for the next appointment, then failed to turn up (or return my calls) for the rescheduled time. By now it was the week before xmas and the problem was getting much worse.

I contacted Billy from the recommendations on here and he responded immediately and had visited and diagnosed the problem within 48hrs. He wouldn't accept a call out fee (it was a handyman repair required rather than a plumbing solution) but has since been to install a new radiator and a smart thermostat.

Everything was done quickly, efficiently and without any mess.

Billy and his team are quick, efficient, extremely knowledgable. I won't hesitate to use him again or recommend him.

  2. Tim and his team have just done an incredible job felling 4 huge trees in our small back garden. It wasn't the easiest job, the only access to and from the garden is through the flat but the guys were so quick, efficient and thorough that the whole thing was done in a day and the flat decor remained completely unscathed. I'm amazed. Highly recommended.

I think it might be a bigger issue than that. The same happened when I tried to register, but the receptionist read back my details to confirm I was definitely on their records. He said I can sort it out when I go in. I got the impression this has been a common occurrence.

  4. Oh you poor thing!

Completely understand, I've been in that situation myself. Last time I needed to be seen promptly, the best option was the walk in centre in Peckham but apparently this is now closed and the nearest option is New Cross. I haven't had cause to use it yet but the details are here: http://newcrossgpwalkin.co.uk

I hope they can help you. I'm also looking for a new GP as DMC so clearly not fit for purpose.

    Wishing you well.

  5. Thanks for posting this. He sounds exactly like the chap I found in my garden, looking over my neighbour's fence 2 years ago.

Same story about the ball (said it was his daughter's). The police were very helpful at the time and appeared to recognise him from the behaviour/description. I seem to remember hearing that he had been apprehended but could easily be back in the area.

I'll be keeping my eyes open.

Herein lies the problem DMC (or one of them). You may think that this is what's happening but it bears no relation to my experience. In 7 years I have never been offered a call back from a doctor when trying to get an appointment for something more pressing than an appointment in 3 weeks will allow. If I've explained that the problem is urgent I've been told to go to A&E. Or a just 'sorry, we can't help'. It was a pharmacist who first told me about the walk in centre in Peckham, when I asked a DMC receptionist about this recently she said it had closed and there was another in New Cross, maybe, but not really sure. All in all a shambles.

  7. Agree with other comments, the service has been appalling for years, not just last week. And the bizarre allocation of appointments to those who wait out in the cold at 7.30am is a joke.

As for the comment about patient no-shows, whilst I agree this is bad form I can't help thinking that a contributing factor is that most appointments have to be booked 3/4 weeks in advance.

I noticed last week there is a banner outside inviting new patent registrations...

  8. Hello

    I'd highly recommend Sally Redfern.

After many unused gym memberships and a host of failed fitness initiatives, Sally has completely transformed my fitness. She works with clients of all levels and is a fantastic motivator. I was new to running when we met and completed my first 10K this time last year, something I never thought I would do. I train with her in the park, and around Dulwich and Herne Hill but she works from gyms too.

You can reach Sally on [email protected] or 07980 317839

    Good luck!

  9. Thanks for this thread. I have been with DMC for 5 years and until last year had little cause to use them.

Last summer I did managed to get a same day appointment but was dismissed by a very young, inexperienced and disinterested doctor who was more concerned with eating his lunch. When my symptoms continued to get worse I went back and managed to see another young doctor who was absolutely brilliant. She immediately arranged an array of tests, which confirmed her diagnosis and called me regularly to check that I was ok and see how I was responding to the medication.

On checking now, I can see she is no longer with the practice, and my recent attempt to get an appointment was met with the same challenges already mentioned.

Reading this has made up my mind. Gardens here I come.
