  1. A quick note to say what a fab service I've had from Billy Hunter at Hunter Heating Solutions. I noticed a mystery leak in the airing cupboard before xmas which was gradually getting worse. I found someone on here who came out to take a look then cancelled due to sickness for the next appointment, then failed to turn up (or return my calls) for the rescheduled time. By now it was the week before xmas and the problem was getting much worse. I contacted Billy from the recommendations on here and he responded immediately and had visited and diagnosed the problem within 48hrs. He wouldn't accept a call out fee (it was a handyman repair required rather than a plumbing solution) but has since been to install a new radiator and a smart thermostat. Everything was done quickly, efficiently and without any mess. Billy and his team are quick, efficient, extremely knowledgable. I won't hesitate to use him again or recommend him. http://www.hunterheatingsolutions.co.uk
  2. I'm looking for recommendations for a plumber to fit an outside tap. Any recommendations gratefully received!
  3. Tim and his team have just done an incredible job felling 4 huge trees in our small back garden. It wasn't the easiest job, the only access to and from the garden is through the flat but the guys were so quick, efficient and thorough that the whole thing was done in a day and the flat decor remained completely unscathed. I'm amazed. Highly recommended.
  4. Just spotted this and would highly recommend Joseph Decorating. Derek and his team have worked on my current and previous property on both internal and external redecoration, always with great results, and most recently transformed my hallway before Christmas. The team are friendly, efficient and extremely knowledgeable. I would use them again in a heartbeat.
  5. Hi DL I have some tins of paint, amongst other things and will be doing a run to the tip this week. I'd be happy to take yours too if you haven't solved this already.
  6. I have 5 wooden blinds that need hanging (a box bay window plus one)ideally this weekend if anyone is available. A quick job but would rather have a professional do it properly! Any takers please PM SE26.
  7. Just took a look at the new site. Clearly not moderated, the kittens for sale post is priceless.
  8. Another recommendation for Bradley who did a brilliant job on my carpets yesterday. Friendly and efficient, would definitely use him again. 07946 328565
  9. I've been really impressed with the Lordship. Lovely food and great service.

I think it might be a bigger issue than that. The same happened when I tried to register, but the receptionist read back my details to confirm I was definitely on their records. He said I can sort it out when I go in. I got the impression this has been a common occurrence.
  11. I also tried to register online yesterday (for online bookings) but the system didn't recognise me. I called and got an appointment for Tuesday, which is a first in my experience. Hopefully I can resolve the online booking when I go in.
  12. Oh you poor thing! Completely understand, I've been in that situation myself. Last time I needed to be seen promptly, the best option was the walk in centre in Peckham but apparently this is now closed and the nearest option is New Cross. I haven't had cause to use it yet but the details are here: http://newcrossgpwalkin.co.uk I hope they can help you. I'm also looking for a new GP as DMC so clearly not fit for purpose. Wishing you well.
  13. Thanks for posting this. He sounds exactly like the chap I found in my garden, looking over my neighbour's fence 2 years ago. Same story about the ball (said it was his daughter's). The police were very helpful at the time and appeared to recognise him from the behaviour/description. I seem to remember hearing that he had been apprehended but could easily be back in the area. I'll be keeping my eyes open.

Herein lies the problem DMC (or one of them). You may think that this is what's happening but it bears no relation to my experience. In 7 years I have never been offered a call back from a doctor when trying to get an appointment for something more pressing than an appointment in 3 weeks will allow. If I've explained that the problem is urgent I've been told to go to A&E. Or a just 'sorry, we can't help'. It was a pharmacist who first told me about the walk in centre in Peckham, when I asked a DMC receptionist about this recently she said it had closed and there was another in New Cross, maybe, but not really sure. All in all a shambles.
  15. Agree with other comments, the service has been appalling for years, not just last week. And the bizarre allocation of appointments to those who wait out in the cold at 7.30am is a joke. As for the comment about patient no-shows, whilst I agree this is bad form I can't help thinking that a contributing factor is that most appointments have to be booked 3/4 weeks in advance. I noticed last week there is a banner outside inviting new patent registrations...
  16. Hello I had two windows replaced last year, one wooden double glazed sash and a velux. I used Global Windows and Doors who were recommended by my local roofer. They did an amazing job, couldn't be happier with the result and the way they worked. They are based in Wimbledon so not strictly local but if you want a comparison then you can reach Piotr on 07800 601561
  17. Hello I'd highly recommend Sally Redfern. After many unused gym memberships and a host of failed fitness initiatives, Sally has completely transformed my fitness. She works with clients of all levels and is a fantastic motivator. I was new to running when we met and completed my first 10K this time last year, something I never thought I would do. I train with her in the park, and around Dulwich and Herne Hill but she works from gyms too. You can reach Sally on [email protected] or 07980 317839 Good luck!

    knitting ?

There's also a local knitting group that meets regularly if you need help getting going. I think this is the link here http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?6,1362964
  19. I miss Station Manager Jones. He'd have sorted out hairballs in a flash.
  20. Thanks for posting this, just arrived home to a drain disaster. Found this recommendation and called Jon, he arrived in less than 30 mins and had the job done in less than an hour. Efficient, helpful and extremely reasonable. Highly recommended.
  21. Thanks so much for reporting and posting this. I also saw this man in Melford Road. Noticed him enough to watch him for a few minutes then thought I was being silly and that he was probably just waiting for someone. Good to know, I'll certainly keep an eye out for him now.
  22. Thanks for this thread. I have been with DMC for 5 years and until last year had little cause to use them. Last summer I did managed to get a same day appointment but was dismissed by a very young, inexperienced and disinterested doctor who was more concerned with eating his lunch. When my symptoms continued to get worse I went back and managed to see another young doctor who was absolutely brilliant. She immediately arranged an array of tests, which confirmed her diagnosis and called me regularly to check that I was ok and see how I was responding to the medication. On checking now, I can see she is no longer with the practice, and my recent attempt to get an appointment was met with the same challenges already mentioned. Reading this has made up my mind. Gardens here I come.
  23. Definitely the park. This forum, and the people. I have the best neighbours ever.
  24. I've just come home from London Bridge to Forest Hill on the train. Driver announced that all stations currenly open but worth checking with Southern before you set off. Some police in Forest Hill but otherwise quiet, if a little tense. Wishing everyone a safe journey home.
