  1. Hi. Is there anybody on this forum who could fit two fire doors this week? Please get in touch or send recommendations if you can. Thanks very much.
  2. I've used Duration Windows for our single glazed sashes. They've been excellent. If you order through a builder you can get a trade price, and they're relatively simple to fit yourself too if you want it even cheaper. Just make sure you measure accurately (twice)!
  3. We lost our daughter's much loved turquoise maxi micro scooter outside the Co-op on Forest Hill Road yesterday afternoon (Monday). It's a long shot, but if you happened to pick it up or know where it is, please do get in touch. You would make a 4-year-old (not to mention her parents) very happy. Thank you.
  4. I think it's a great idea. No idea about the maths or the merits of (self)publishing I'm afraid, but I would have bought a copy before I extended my Victorian terrace. Very happy for you to PM me if you want another case study.
  5. Yes BrandNewGuy, you can just turn up and swim. No need to join. Check the times before you go though of course.
  6. I was selling at the May version of this car boot at the weekend, and we did pretty well. Well organised, friendly and decent footfall too. (I let the organiser know, and promised I'd repeat my thoughts here on the forum!)
  7. Hi. duration.co.uk do really good secondary glazing units. They're made to measure and you can either fit them yourself (quite straightforward if you've done a bit of DIY), or pay someone to install them (which more than doubles the price). Anyway, I've used them a couple of times and it works well. Certainly much cheaper than having the whole window replaced, and it means you can keep the original window too.
  8. Thank you everyone for your posts and your PMs. Much appreciated.
  9. Hello. I live by Peckham Rye and am looking for a cleaner to do 3 hours a fortnight in our house. I'm keen to hear recommendations from anybody with a good cleaner in the area. Alternatively if you're looking for cleaning work and can provide references, I'd love to hear from you too. Many thanks, Adam
  10. Hello. I went to the Flying Pig the other day for the pulled pork and it wasn't on the menu any more. We had a burger which was fine, but not nearly as good as the food used to be. For me, if it's not a barbecue pub, it's just another pub. I like the big selection of beers, but the food was your distinctive thing, and now that's gone.
  11. No-one's mentioned potentially the best fish and chip shop in London, which is just down the road. Brockley Rock in Brockley: http://www.eastlondonlines.co.uk/2015/02/brockley-chippy-hands-out-free-chips-to-celebrate-award/ I always make the journey there to collect our fish and chips, and it's always worth it. I thought Olley's was pretty poor, and Rose's not bad at all, but Brockley Rock is the winner for me.
  12. Thanks Renata, much appreciated. Abe, I think that's a really interesting principle and it does work well on that street in Kensington. The trouble on Rye Lane is that people have no reason to expect to see bikes on the pavement as they wander out of the shopping centre. It's pretty dangerous.
  13. This would be such a in easy fix. Just mark it out with yellow lines, and more pedestrians will realise it's a cycle path.I cycle along it every day, and I can't blame the people who walk into it. Generally they just think it's a (particularly bumpy) section of the pavement.
  14. Hi Adam. You definitely want to shop around. Prices do vary a bit. I found the best price was from a company in Norfolk called Less2build, but that was a couple of years ago.
  15. Hi Tim. Glad to hear your cat has returned! We live on Hichisson and have been keeping an eye out since your leaflet came through the door. We've certainly seen him around before; glad to hear he's still on the scene! Adam
