  1. I wondered if someone might be able to offer some advice. Our architects have suggested we get a tree survey done ahead of getting plans drawn up for our side return extension. I googled online and it says I should expect to pay £150-300 for Stage 1 survey including BS5837 tree survey, tree constraints plan and summary report. I've had two quotes in and the best I have had is £539 + vat! Which seems quite a bit more than expected. Does anyone know a good reliable company that might be able to offer a more competitive quote?

    Many thanks!

  2. Hi there!

I just want to recommend the cleaning services of Gardênia Gasparette.

Her lovely, professional cleaners clean our airbnb property to an excellent standard. They even iron the sheets for the Airbnb! The towels are always rolled up and arranged on the beds like it’s a spa and the corners of the toilet rolls folded in so it all looks lovely.

Gardênia services are competitively priced and she also does domestic cleans and ironing.

You can contact Gardênia on the number below.

    Thanks!

  3. Hi there,

I wanted to give a big shout out to Kushy Move. An idependent letting agent on Bellendon Road. My family have used Kushy's services for more than 20years. He knows the market in this area very well. He has always found us incredible tenants promptly, and has got a fair price. He looks after our tenants and our properties well. He has always given very good advice when assessing our properites.

With so many letting and sales agents in the area (and I have dealt with a lot!), I have always found Kushy to be straight forward and no nonsense.

    Highly recommended!

Julia with any architect you should have an idea in mind. Saves everyone time and energy, as what one architect thinks a client wants is v different than the next. Do some research. Here are some examples https://www.self-build.co.uk/side-return-extensions-project-inspiration-and-expert-advice/

This is really useful! Thank you.

Go and look at kitchens on right move in houses over say 1.5. Most of them will have a side return extensions many will have used architects nevertheless they all look more or less the same.

Thanks, this is good to know!

  5. Hi there!

We are looking into getting a side return and loft dormer. I wondered if anyone had any experience of working with Resi or GoPlans? We'd be keen for there to be an element of interesting architectural design, however can't afford a traditional architect. We wondered if Resi might have the edge over GoPlans on this due to the size of the company and the amount of architectural designers they have working for them.

We'd love to know any thoughts you had about these companies or similar!

    Thanks!

    Julia

  6. We just had the same experience at 8:30pm on Forest Hill

Road, just near the herne tavern. He said he was just out of prison. He wouldn?t take no for an answer and wouldn?t leave the doorstep so my partner shut the door. He opened the letterbox and yelled through ?you will

Regret this?. The same experience happened to my neighbour 5mims

Before. I saw him climb into a dark grey people mover. There was an altercation in the back of the car with another person and he is punched who was in the back before

Getting in. It feels like it?s an organised racket. We reported it to the police. It looks like the photo and description of the guy who was in the area in December. It?s mad that he?s still in the area. I wonder if we can build

More of a profile for the police from this thread?

  7. I wanted to recommend Bloomers Lingerie on Lordship Lane for any expectant mums here on the forum. I've always hated going to get new bras. I spend hours in a changing room and I can never seem to find anything that fits properly. So I was pretty much dreading having to get a maternity bra. My friend recommended Bloomers. I Just went in this afternoon, the lady there was able to see me for a fitting straight away. She was able to determine my exact size without faffing with a measuring tape and helped fit me with some different brands until I found two really comfortable maternity bras that actually look quite pretty! All done in about 15mins with no need to go into town. They also have a really beautiful range of standard underwear and good brands. I'm ditching M&S and John Lewis now and I'm Bloomers all the way!
  8. Hi guys,

Me and my fella are due to have a baby towards the end of December. We are really very keen to do a hypnobirthing course or attend some birth hypnosis or visualisation classes. However, I've investigated and all of the courses I've found are super expensive. I wondered if any other Mums and Dads out there could recommend any more affordable options that there might be.

    Best wishes,

    J
