  1. jimmy to listen to the number of people on here complaining about councils and politicians i would say it's more than this lot are an enemy of the state careful what you wish for
  2. I'm guessing not right Even Cameron couched his statement yesterday in "these things get misreported" terms, and the police have issued a formal denial. When initially quoted as well, Klass had said how helpful the police were. I'm sure SOMETHING about the knife was said, after which the wearily predictable wailing ensued Storm in a tea cup basically, nothing to see here
  3. I'm going later this month and.. well, looking forward to it isn't quite right, that would be like looking forward to Requiem for a Dream... but you know what I mean
  4. Read the facebook comments on the petition - short answer is worse than us becoming this "sad" - only conclusion is we are demented. Think of Jimmy's comments on this thread and multiply by a 100 in ferocity and bile
  5. Given the last couple of posts jimmy, I can't decide if "He" is Adeboyor, Campbell or Wenger (even tho you meant Sol) time will tell I suppose
  6. yep, jumper looks as good as ever http://newsliteimgs.s3.amazonaws.com/091209_jumpers.jpg
  7. Given that they were filming in William Rose many weeks back does this mean a) what we see on TV doesn't REALLY happen in a week? Gasp, shock etc etc b) we have two different south London shows coming up?
  8. JoJo - when I next get home I'll try and pull the pic from facebook. Work doesn't allow access so it'll have to wait LadyMacGabhann however has expressed disapproval of the state of me in the picture so any delay isn't unwelcome in my house
  9. Ouch Coffin - nail combo?
  10. and I thought you knew me Rosalita
  11. did you not get my PM about it keef? You can download the first chapter or two for free to try it out on the xbox marketplace
  12. funnily enough I gave Manhattan a go at the weekend as well. I didn't last very long - I just find him unwatchable even tho parts of what I saw of the cinematography looked stunning. Switched off after 20 minutes - a rarity for me I've seen Incredibles about 5 times however - love it
  13. the question was for vince really, but fair play for answering. You think b) tho? Seriously?
  14. Couldn't we say as much about Irish terrorists in the 70s and 80s? Oh, we did. Fat lot of good it did then either let's say for a FACT they all are? Now what? You think it's possible or desirable to kick all non-nationals on benefit out of the country? What about indigenous white people who have never contributed anything to society? Even if you do want that and even if you succeed, do you think a) the UK is more likely to be the subject of a terrorist attack or b) less likely as a result? Instead of going for gut-reactions can people actually engage brains before wailing
  15. You've been rumbled piers!!
  16. Germany. Sweden. Finland. All less successful than "broken Britain" are they? If you want to smack kids just say so. Dont dress it up as a recipe for success
  17. Yep. All those countries where smacking is banned... Losers the lot of them.
  18. Care to expand on that point EdOldie? My impression from your posts is that you are a sceptic on climate change and that you think the government are spinning to promote "pro climate change" policy. But by allowing the third runway, the government went against the wishes of all pro-climate-change adherents? This seems to be a contradiction to me or have I missed a point ?
  19. I live in hope bob
  20. I'm basically in agreement with you HAL so I'm not trying to be oppositionist, but it's still not the same thing
  21. well.. apart from killing them of course
  22. Assuming you want it in here rather than the Lounge KK? Good question tho' I'm fond of a few pints myself but also suspect that, on a general level and only an opinion, people here (Uk, and Ireland in my case) do drink too much. But that's not recent - many laws have had to be passed over the last few centuries to stop the people of these islands drinking themselves to death Fair play to cultures who party without alcohol - but given a choice, I will stick with a drink thanks
  23. Mick - why would you believe that "modern britain" has a reluctance to uphold the law?? I love the "modern" - yet another hark back to a mythical golden age Time and time again, some people misinterpret an argument around a particular sentences as having "sympathy" for the criminal. And where is the excuse for people breaking the law abroad? The only argument being put forward is that to kill a human being is already wrong and to do so to a mentally impaired individual (have you SEEN those youtube clips of him singing songs he thought would bring him fame???) is a bit... y'know...
  24. I think the chickens piled high, pecking each other whilst sat on their own excrement without being able to even turn around is scare story enough (and not an urban myth) But yeah when the round robin emails about the latest KFC myth ("that's why they changed the name to KFC - cuz there is no chicken in it anymore!!) come round I do roll my eyes
