  1. It's good to hear good things about Perfect Puppy. I designed the book and art directed all the photographs which were all taken in Dulwich - on location in a couple of lovely houses in the Village and in Dulwich Park. All the pups and owners are local too. You may recognise some of them! Gwen Bailey was fantastic - formidable and very knowledgeable.
  2. Hi annielaurie, I am a local website designer and I would love to help you with your website. Here is a thread about me: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,1202187,1511167#msg-1511167 also my website has my portfolio http://tokiko.co.uk My recent projects (not yet on my website) include: http://gcpfacilities.co.uk http://goddenstructural.com http://blueprintcoffee.co.uk http://climatechangeeconomics.co.uk Looking forward to hearing from you!
  3. Vale Residents are holding a weeding party on *Bank Holiday Monday 4th May at 6pm* at the Physic Garden at the front of the Dulwich Hospital on East Dulwich Grove. All welcome. 37 bus. They are also proud to announce some major grants amounting to over ?4000 to continue their work. Follow link to find out more! http://www.se22valeresidents.org.uk/category/news/
  4. As the other posters described, the cake was cut and put in the box out of view and it was only when I got home that I found out the size of the slice. The cake was delicious and I'm not quibbling at the price per se. ?3 is a perfectly reasonable price to pay but I would have expected more than a sample size. In fact if the cake's value is really ?3 for a thin slice then they should charge more but give a proper slice. After all it's a treat and that's what the customer expects!
  5. This piece of cake cost me ?3 to take away (50p piece give idea of thickness or rather thinness) :(
  6. Another of my websites have just gone live. My client says I was delighted with the website Tokiko Morishima (www.tokiko.co.uk) designed for me. In addition to her technical expertise, the main reasons I chose to work with Tokiko are that she really listens to the client and then translates your objectives in a very creative way. She also developed my logo for the business. Tokiko is knowledgeable, approachable and delivers on time. Here's what she created for me: [thegraduatecoachingpartnership.co.uk] See the comment at this link. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,1464497
  7. Hi Jane, I'm a freelance book and web designer. I would love to come along to the drink.
  8. I am looking for recommendations for good local(ish) signwriters to put design on the side of a mid-size van. The artwork will be done in Adobe Illustrator to scale. Thank you!
  9. Most of the recent news are of interest for the area as a whole and not just for Vale Residents (eg Dulwich Hamlet Development). The only thing that is Vale Residents only is the meeting at the Cherry Tree.
  10. A flurry of news and activity that you may be interested in. Take a look at the website for more info. http://www.se22valeresidents.org.uk

  13. I have just heard that the OP's emails were hacked and hence the offensive PM was nothing to do with the OP. All ok now.
  14. Thanks Sue for recommending me. I'm sorry to hear that you got a nasty PM, seems like OP didn't like me deciding not to go ahead with quoting for his job as I specialise in developing bespoke websites and not ones based on templates. My website outlines my skills and the services I offer if anyone is not clear. http://www.tokiko.co.uk
  15. Finally I've got round to updating my website. It's been long overdue but have been so busy that this job has never managed to get to the top of my to-do list. Lots of new projects in my website portfolio and I'm very pleased with them all. Thank you to all my lovely clients in this corner of SE London. http://www.tokiko.co.uk My latest project is also going well ? a dual language website in English and Japanese. A fantastic new challenge for me and hoping to go live in September. After a summer break I will be looking for more projects. Pls get in touch if you are interested. Have a great summer, Tokiko PS here is a link to another thread that is also about me. It says: I just want to recommend the services of Tokiko Morishima at www.tokiko.co.uk who has completely re-designed and revamped my website. I am really pleased with the results. She has been very receptive throughout and really paid attention to the brief, acting fast on any feedback and ensuring I was happy with her work at every stage. She also worked quickly and professionally, delivering the project well within budget and on time. Since she lives in East Dulwich she is also accessible and meetings are easier to organise. She has done work for quite a few locals and I have only heard positive things. If you need any kind of design work, including branding, logos, or other web development be sure to give her a call. 16. Our community website launched last week and here is the link http://www.se22valeresidents.org.uk. Do take a look. Also, if you've never been along to the Physic Garden, which has its own page on the website, http://www.se22valeresidents.org.uk/the-physic-garden now's the time to enjoy it for real in the afternoon sun. It is two years since it was a demolition site and we were given the go-ahead to transform it as a neighbourhood project backed by amazing local support. A copy of our Physic Garden photobook will be placed in the SELDOC waiting room at the Hospital. Read all about it! We'll be weeding at the Physic Garden on Thursday 3 July at 10am in anticipation of welcoming a possible new sponsor, so come and see who the gardeners are and what medicinal plants you recognise. Contact us via the VRA website. (posted on behalf of the Chair of VRA)
  17. Hi Dulwich Fox, I am a professional web designer and thought I would offer you some tips - I hope you don't mind. First of all, I don't think you need a totally responsive design for a website to work on tablets and phones as well as desktops. This site (EDF) for instance is not responsive but many people use it from phones. The crucial thing you need to do is to make your site portrait, not landscape. It should scroll down rather than fill the browser window sideways. This single change will make your site more navigable on smaller devices. Also I'm guessing that you are hand-coding every page. If so you will soon be overwhelmed by the amount of updates that you have to make every day and the time this will take. You really need to make use of one of the content management systems out there - Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal are the most well known - to help with the maintenance and updating of the info and make your work easier. People will not visit a directory site that is not up to date so you could be putting a lot of work into your site to find that no one visits it. If you know CSS, HTML and PHP already then I think you will find Wordpress or similar easy to get to grips with. There are a few tweaks you can do to your CSS to make the page sit more comfortably, particularly when you resize the window. You are setting some of the boxes in an absolute position and so they are not resizing at the same time as other boxes so that they appear to spill out of them. I suggest that you take a look at lynda.com for some training which will show you how to use CSS. It really is an excellent resource. It is clear, well put together and comprehensive and all for a very low fee. I highly recommend it. As for the aesthetics of your site, I would not take all the negative comments to heart. If your website delivers what it promises to deliver then people will use it. Good luck and enjoy working on your project. It really is satisfying when it comes together.
  18. Hi Cocoviolet, I'm a web designer with a growing clientbase locally. Here is a thread about me. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,1202187,1202187#msg-1202187 Happy to discuss your requirements if you are still looking for help.
  19. I have updated my website so pls take a look. http://tokiko.co.uk
  20. Rebecca, Sue and Hakan - thank you so much for your kind comments. They are much appreciated. I really enjoyed working with you all and am glad that you are pleased with your websites. I am a local designer (SE22 8DX) and a devotee of the East Dulwich Forum. I post regularly under another name, but for clarity have decided to use a_book_for_life for my business related posts. As the name suggests, I also design books as well as websites. My own website is tokiko.co.uk but this is rather out of date. I am currently working on updating it. If you are interested in my services, pls pm or email me. All of my websites are designed entirely from scratch according to the brief given to me by my clients. I do not use templates (unless the brief specifies that I should!). The website can be simple (like a virtual business card) or complex with options for blogging, gallery of images, comments even e-commerce. It all depends on your needs. If you are not sure, I can advise you. I would love to work with more local people so pls contact me! Tokiko PS pls note that www.bespoke-builders.com is not my work - tmelwood, I wonder if you could start another thread recommending your web designer, as it is rather confusing having your post on this thread.
