  1. Very sorry to hear about the attack, and I hope the woman involved is ok. I never feel safe walking around late at night on my own. I always carry a personal alarm around with me espcially when I get off the bus and walk to my house and also get cabs after 12 at night. I call my boyfriend when I get off ths bus so he knows when I will be home. It is sad that I have to do all of this, but it does make me feel slightly safer - espcially having a personal alarm - it is very loud and would hopefully scare an attacker off.
  2. Hi all I have some friends staying this weekend and wondered if there were any local christmas markets that will be open in or around East Dulwich that I could take them too?
  3. Many thanks for all the recommendations, I work on Bishopsgate so I think my best bet is to get the number 12 to Peckham Rye then walk from London Bridge and when the weather is nice I will walk to East Dulwich station. I thought about the 40 but I do like a walk in the morning and buses make me feel a bit sick if im on them for too long. We have a very large sofa that needs to come out of a 1st floor window so I am not sure if Dulwich removals would be able to do this - but I will have a look at their website. Many thanks again for the recommendation.
  4. Thats lovely, thanks for the recommendations!
  5. Hello all I am moving from Melbourne Grove to Crebor Street in December (thanks to the forum for helping me find a lovely 2 bed with a garden) and have booked a removal firm called 'The Move Team' and was just wondering if anyone has ever used them before, and if so could let me know if they are ok? Also does anyone know the quickest way to get into the city from Crebor street? I do not mind walking to East Dulwich station from this road but I thought if its raining then I would get a bus to either East Dulwich station or Forest Hill station. Does anyone know the quickest bus route to either of these stations? Many thanks Gemma
  6. I have had exactly the same symptoms last week and all over the weekend - my stomach is still so swollen. I also wondered about going to the doctors as I have now had it for 5 days - think I will wait another few days and see if it gets any better. Whatever it is its not nice! Hope you all get better soon! x
  7. I also got a call from LloydsTSB on Friday saying that someone tried to take ?99 out of my account in Ghana - thankfully the bank did not let them. It was from my boyfriend and I's joint account and the only place we use that card is Somerfield or the dvd shop in East Dulwich. Looks like Im just another one to add to the growing list of people who have had their bank card cloned in East Dulwich!
  8. I thought I would post this to warn others in the area. Two flats in my block (Olivia Court on Melbourne Grove) were broken into yesterday. I came home to find both their doors had been smashed in so I immediately called the police, it was very scary as I was unsure whether they were still in any of the flats. The police eventually came about half an hour later but they had long gone, probably happened in the afternoon when everyone was at work! My flat was not broken into this time although we were burgled in December after only moving in in September so I think it is highly likely that the same people carried out these burglaries. I really feel for the people involved as I know what a horrible experience it can be. So if anyone saw anything suspicious yesterday on Melbourne grove, please contact the police. Thanks Gemma
  9. Hi I am also 25 and I moved to the area in October. I really like living in East Dulwich, but I was just saying to a friend that I dont know anyone in East Dulwich so I should really make the effort to meet new people. I had to give up playing netball as I started a night course on Monday and Wednesdays so would be interested in joining a sports club in East Dulwich either on Tuesday and Thursdays or even Saturday mornings. Is anyone allowed to come to the monthly forum drinks? Gemma
  10. I totally agree with the trains getting busier, also they seem to be breaking down a lot more recently (last night it took me 1 hour and 45 mins to get home and it usually takes me 45!). I have only lived in East Dulwich since September but have definately seen an increase in numbers on the trains. I am lucky as I get on the 8.41 and always manage to get a seat, but my Partner gets the 7.51 which sometimes he cannot even get on at ED as it is so busy!
  11. Hello all I am new to the East Dulwich forum - but I live in the flat that got broken into yesterday in Melbourne Grove! We only locked the main lock of the door and didnt lock the bottom lock so I think it was probably very easy to get in the flat. They also must of somehow managed to get through the main door and carry everything out - including a 32 inch brand new flat screen. Very gutting as we only moved in at the end of September and goods can be replaced but pics on the camera and laptops cant be so I warn everyone to get two locks on their doors! The police eventually turned up at around noon today and said that there have been 5 other burglaries in the area - so be careful, Im not holding my breath that they are going to catch them - they couldnt even find any finger prints - they must have used gloves!! Anyways I hope by writing on the wall it will make people ensure that they lock up properly and take out insurance - which unfortunately we forgot to do - very expensive lesson learned!!
