As an update on the below post, we have now heard from James and he has explained the lack of communication. He has also reimbursed our deposit so all is good. James Mulvey is carpenter who used to get a lot of work from the forum (although less so now I believe). He seems like a nice guy and has done some work for us before which we were happy with, so we were confident when we paid him a deposit in Oct 2016 for some other work (which he initially said he would complete before Christmas). We have not heard anything from him since before Christmas and he has not been responding to any of our communications. We would be grateful to know whether anyone on here has had any contact with him in the past 6 weeks or so, or whether he is doing any work for anyone? This all seems a bit out of character (as far as we know) so we are keen to know whether he is ok or whether he is avoiding us etc. Would prefer to avoid pursuing any legal routes for claiming back our money if possible! (although advice on this would also be welcome....) Thanks all

My baby and I went along to Spud social and it was lovely! Fun, relaxed, social atmosphere with parents and babies/toddlers all munching away on yummy, decently priced, jacket potatoes (love that they do half portions for babies). Def recommend

Another recommendation for Simone's boxing classes for mums. I have only just started going, having never boxed before, and I really enjoy it. A great(hard!) workout in a friendly and supportive environment. My 5 month old often plays happily while I box but if not, it's easy to go to her and do whatever I need to do. Definitely recommend.

Another recommendation for Dave Franklin and his team. They're all nice guys and they did an excellent job redecorating our house, and were very accommodating when we added new jobs etc. They worked hard to get everything done in time and he was always clear about costs for pieces of work which makes things easier.
