  2. Just a had a xmas present delivered. I ordered it 18/12/21 for delivery 1 to 2 business days. It is date stamped 20/12/21 and delivered today 21/1/22! I paid ?3.85 for delivery, wondering if I can now claim this postage back? Am going to (probably pointlessly) put complaint in to Royal Mail.
  3. The paperwhite version makes reading in sunlight so much easier. No squinting to see the screen like I get with my tablet. Dependant on the tablet you?re using it?s slightly lighter and a little more manageable to hold as well.

The noise starts at 8:30 and doesn?t finish until after school club ends at approx 6pm. I don?t feel that constitutes ?part of the day?. Apart from play times and lunch times there are PE and other lessons taking place outside as well. The sheer volume of noise is so invasive. I?m not sure how restrictions on driving to the school has any bearing on the noise levels? I have had to (just for my own mental health) spend a fortune on new acoustic double glazed windows as was finding I could barely hear my own TV at its highest volume. I have to wear headphones in the garden as cannot hear myself think otherwise. Even during the rare quiet periods in the day I find my tensed shoulders hunched around my ears waiting to for the next onslaught. Every delivery driver or caller to the door remarks on the shocking volume of the noise from the children asking how can I put up with it. One might think that it is surely delightful hearing children running around enjoying themselves and for a half an hour here or there I?m sure it is, try it all day, all week, all month etc. believe me it gets old very quickly. As a sun worshipper I now find myself praying for rain for some peace and quiet. I can no longer enjoy spending time in own home or garden now that all the children are back after Covid restrictions eased. I have no idea why the walls that previously housed the police station courtyard were knocked down/not rebuilt as would have provided a welcome sound barrier and protection from pollution for the children. I feel your pain citykitty, you?re not alone.
  5. A further recommendation here for Aaron. We found his details on the forum, he came round gave a very reasonable quote to do a whole room (including ceiling) and started approx a week later. Was quick, efficient, clean and barely stopped for breaks. Covid safe working practices and came across as a decent hardworking chap. Gave some good advice on problem with another ceiling and had his work cut out with our less than perfect walls. Will definitely use again if/when needed. Call him on 07773 410661. Sally
  6. Film mentions a unit of length. Can?t remember what colour it is...oh yeah, green.
  7. Miscarriage of justice. Bloke goes to prison. Gets out years later. Meets up with old prison pal.
  8. I take my daily walk through the park and always walk around the pond to spot the wildlife. Saw this little fella sitting on his own and took a quick snap.
  9. I went into M & S and wanted to use my own shopping bag to put goods in while walking around the store instead of the baskets to help prevent cross contamination and was told it wasn?t allowed. I had to use a basket! Then in the chemist (I had to collect a prescription) I was offered a pen by the counter staff, I said it?s OK I?ll use my own (again to stop cross contamination) and was told ?it?s Ok I?m wearing gloves?!no thought that I wasn?t and probably neither had the dozen or so users before me. Finally I get home, wash my hands thoroughly, sit down for a cup of tea and hear the letterbox open. I go to the hallway to see a card left advertising double glazing!!! So if I haven?t caught it off the basket or the pen there?s a chance it?s been helpfully posted through my own front door.
  10. Chewing nuts seconded! Also, milk bottles, Blackcurrant liquorice, Spanish tobacco, milk teeth, chocolate limes, sweet peanuts, pear drops and nougat please.

  12. There are plans submitted to Southwark for change of use to residential. Proposal is for 3 separate flats, ground floor will have shop frontage removed and become 2 bed flat with 2 x 1 bed flats on next 2 levels. https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=externalDocuments&keyVal=_STHWR_DCAPR_9579380
  13. ?This one, this one right here. This was my dream, my wish and it didn?t come true so I?m taking it back!?
  14. ?I know what you're thinking. Did he fire six shots or only five? Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I've kinda lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk??
  15. Looks like the Golden City ex-chippie has just been sold pre-auction by Savilles!

  17. The one I saw was on Friday approx 5pm heading along Bellenden Rd. It crossed the road in front of me and trotted along by the playground at The Academy at Peckham school towards Highshore Rd. It didn't seem bothered and even did a couple of left and right checks before it crossed.
  18. I went to BHS many moons ago to purchase, bedding, towels, some kitchens bits and bobs, approx ?120 worth of goods. The cashier was deep in conversation with a colleague as she rang up the purchases talking about her date the previous night. She made no eye contact and said not one word to me as bagged up the goods and handed over the various bags to me. She then folded her arms and turned back to her mate never once losing the thread of her conversation. I said thank you as my mum always taught me to and walked out of the shop with my bank card still in my hand unused!
