  1. Thanks, I have sent you an e-mail with the Action Fraud helpline reference. They were recommended on this forum by "lordshiplanegirl" and "JenniferSE22". I also asked for references which I now believe to be fake. I've given all the details to the police. I had been recommended Will and he came round with his "partner" who I believe is called Chris. Will is probably mid 30's and his partner probably in his 60's. His partner didn't look English but not sure of his nationality. I also paid by cash and he asked for the cheque to be made out to Scott Pike. I believe I had a very lucky escape in the fact they didn't do any work on my flat. I had been saving to get my bathroom done for ages and just feel so stupid how I could misjudge someone so badly.
  2. Alex, see below If you know anyone else who believes they have been a victim of fraud who wants to report the incident please ask them to complete the online report found at www.actionfraud.police.uk, or phone the contact centre on 0330 303 0800.
  3. Alex, exactly the same thing happened to me just before Christmas. I have the fraud police looking into it. He and his partner came round just before Christmas and they persuaded me to give them ?600 up front. I stupidly obliged thinking that he probably has people letting him down last minute. I asked for references but I believe they are probably all written by him. I then dug a bit further and saw some bad reviews on the forum. I e-mailed these people for advice but did not hear back. I also got in touch with the administrator asking if the people who had recommended were one and the same. I began to get more and more nervous and on the actual day he did not show up. I had taken the day off. Finally at about 2pm we received a response (it was obviously Will/Scott or whatever his real name is) saying that he'd been involved in a small accident and his brother should be with us! We didn't employ his brother to do the job so needless to say we asked for the money back. It's now January and still nothing. Alex I recommend you report it to the police. I think you'll find the two people who constantly recommend Will from Prestige is actually Will himself.
  4. The guy who works in the newsagent next to the Tyre shop at the bottom of Melbourne Grove (not far from East Dulwich station) does laptop repairs.
  5. I wish I'd seen Lucytones notice before employing Will from Prestige. Avoid like the plague!
  6. I used Balham Glass & Joinery (probably about five years ago now) and they my sitting room windows. They did a very good job and I got the FENSA forms which is very important.
  7. Thanks Callie, I've just noticed the bow now from your photo! I mentioned this thread when I went in to the shop. I met with the husband who was a very nice man. I think most of the furniture and paintings etc are done by family members. I think they are in the process of having a website made for them.
  8. I popped in there today but thought it was called La Belle. It is a gorgeous little shop with some great ideas for Christmas presents. I found it through this post so thank you.
  9. The same thing happened to me at Spellers garage years ago. I'm 100% sure it was because i was a woman. I now go to Austin's garage in Harness Road and know a lot of women who go there. I know Austin and his son and completely trust them.
  10. I'd recommend Simon Fox who is a magican/comedien and does Punch & Judy shows in Brighton, he's very popular. If you require his number then pm me.
  11. I used Balham Glass & Joinery for my three sash windows in the sitting room. They were very reasonably priced and very efficient. I was really pleased with the job they did.
  12. I bought mine from here: http://www.angelicabridal.co.uk/ I will be looking to sell it shortly too! It's designed by Ritva Westenus and is beautiful and quite simple!
  13. I am looking for someone who is a plasterer and a tiler. I have a small bathroom that badly needs redecorating. If anyone is interested please pm me.
  14. Thanks for the tip off, I did wonder!!
  15. Hi, I'm looking for someone to come and paint the internal woodwork in my flat. I would also like at the same time to get a quote for painting (and re-lining) a couple of the bedrooms. Please pm me if you are interested. Thanks
  16. KristinH, we are doing exactly as your builder has suggested. We've had an on-going water ingress above and to the side of the chimney breast which has got steadily worse. We have had 4/5 builders come to have a look but no-one can actually find where the leak is coming from. Our last builder claims to have fixed it but it's still damp. We have now taken off all the plaster and are rendering it and tanking. On top of that, we've now found yet another leak in the other bedroom!
  17. The lady in white was called Mad Alice! I got a real shock when I first saw her. I then found out that she was an outpatient at the Maudsley and the poor woman had been badly abused.

That would be great. I am around Monday and Tuesday of next week after 7pm if that is any good for you or Sunday afternoon. It would be good to get some tips from you too as he doesn't like his jabs!
