  1. The debate rages on Jeremy- 'faith' schools promote 'faith' in a supernatural 'being' (which is a massive copout in itself since there is and never will be any empirical evidence for said being) and all the hype and discrimination that goes with it. And- unfortunately Alan Medic- some faiths discourage thinking for oneself i.e. they require 'blind faith'
  2. We don't want to upset anyone do we womanof dulwich? During PSHE when dealing with Equality, equality of male and female is discussed, equality for the disabled is discussed- but LBGT issues are never on the agenda in the faith school- you would think since laws have been passed this would be compulsory.
  3. Depends which room- I've had cheapo Ikea stuff down for 15 years now in a room with light-ish use and despite beer and tea being spilled on it there is no warping. And it has had a piano on it- both across the planks and parallel to the planks ( and one of the pianos was an old iron framed Victorian job) for the duration. The beauty is there is hardly any dust!
  4. She's The One- Roy Harper
  5. You say '....reason that bilingual Muslim children must be educated in state funded Muslim schools with bilingual Muslim teachers as role models during their developmental periods' and you say it is nothing to do with segregation- yeah right- there should be NO faith schools- people are free to worship their imaginary friend outside of state funded institutions and I object to my tax money being used to spread homophobia and other views expressed as a result of brainwashing.
  6. I agree with Sue - I would ask the employer for an advance.
  7. The Ciderhouse Rules was a 12 here and an 18 in Eire. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film_censorship_in_the_Republic_of_Ireland makes interesting reading
  8. Sorry I should have said 'some' of our 15 classifications- including Brokeback Mountain
  9. Oh dear Burbage- that bad- no wonder most of our 15 films are classified as 18 in Eire
  10. Because the cinema is right in your face, loud, up close, and personal
  11. Myname theyactually alternate between your garden and mine. They are in mine first thing in the morning until I chase them away and then they turn up in yours. The stench for the last 2 weeks has been dreadful- need to replenish the Jeyes fluid forthwith (B and Q is cheapest and they do a large one)
  12. In a documentary about a crime ridden area of the USA a man leaves his car doors unlocked and a couple of dollars in the ashtray to avoid the crims wrecking his car. No-one in their right mind leaves valuables in their car but they damage them looking for nothing. My daughter cleans the sat nav rings from her windscreen because she thinks they will try and look for it - she never leaves anything in there anyway.
  13. I have not been to the cinema for some time and went to see a 15 rated film. During the Pearl and Dean advertisements there were two for alcohol. How inappropriate is that? One advertisement was for Stella and the other for Jack Daniels. There can be no justification for showing these advertisements other than at 18 rated shows
  14. Chimpyfest is much better imho!
  15. I would research as much as possible on line (btw O2 have the best reception in my experience) Then narrow it down to 2 or 3 models according to what you want then go to the shop to get the feel- I did this 2 years ago and got an HTC Desire S- battery lasts most of the day unless using the gps or flash on the camera.
  16. Nigello wrote 'Although I didn't witness this event I've had plenty of times to wonder - sometimes aloud - just why the coppers come mob-handed to the most trivial event....' My daughter was mugged in ED and was near home so she got to the phone and rang 999 and gave a brilliant description and the perps were picked up. She was driven to id them and in within 15 minutes the whole street was full of the muggers pals and their girlfriends sitting on cars and behaving in a deliberately intimidating way to the extent that a couple of them were put in a van-that's why they turn up in numbers.
  17. I get loads of them in the garden- they feed off the cotoneaster. Then there are some that look almost the same but with orange tipped tails and they like clover
  18. Remember Tomorrow- Metallica
  19. I think Mrs Brown sums it up- 'Men want someone to fill their belly and empty their nut sac'. I think women have realised this now that they can-through being educated- strip away all the romantic notions and flummery. And don't forget, the women still have to take the entire physical responsibility of the products of intercourse.
  20. I wonder if these are the same kids who were in Crystal Palace Road a few weeks ago throwing eggs at cars?
  21. I see he mentions fungi- that's interesting since some years ago I went of a 'fungus foray' which had been organised by the London Wildlife Trust in Sydenham Hill Wood and we were encourage to pick the stuff and eat it! Presumably they don't do this anymore
  22. Bald Head- Soteria
  23. Oh yes- I forgot about the aspiring 'working class'
  24. Crazy Train- Ozzy Osbourne
