  1. I wonder if the scrap metal people would be interested in a couple of bear traps- open, of course, partially concealed by grass!
  2. Somebody was up a ladder in Goodrich near Barry Road painting at about 1630- the horrible boobies one is now gone!
  3. Since your beavers had a capital letter I thought you meant baby scouts.
  4. (Kids with disabilities who can't walk to school can get transport from the council). My kids went to a primary school 15 minutes walk from home. My next door neighbour's kids went to the same school and unless I walked them (if they were ready) their mother used to drive them- and that was most days. And they were still late most days!! Also at the school was a girl in a wheelchair and her mother used to drive her, park on the zig-zags to unload her and then drive to shopping where she parked in a disabled space since she had the parking badge!! Both were 'Dulwich Village mums'
  5. And how do we explain the new crime of 'street grooming' coined on the BBC today (at least it's the first time I heard it)?
  6. It's a time thing. I gave up my car in aid of the environment for several years andused buses. I used to leave the house at 7 and got home at 7 and missed many hours of my children's young lives. Since no-one else seemed to give a flying fig for the environment I took up driving once again. I have a small car and am amazed at the increase in massive cars on the road 'wasting' our finite resource-oil. The absurdity of still making plastic bags convinces me that people are really stupid on the whole- and if you can't beat 'em join 'em!
  7. City of the Dead- Arch Enemy
  8. Didn't they use the 'My ears are alight' to the tune of Israelites to advertise Maxell tapes, and they won the ad of the year with it?
  9. I'm So Ronery- Kim Jong Il
  10. My son misheard 'Who are You' by the Who as 'Oooh Olly'. And my brother used to singalong to 'Day Trip Up'
  11. There is a Death Metal and Hardcore all-dayer at the Black Heart in Camden (just round the corner from the tube) on Saturday....guaranteed to hit the spot and they have some good beers in the bar
  12. Why do some people drive like idiots? Is it because they cannot assert themselves in other areas of their lives? Or is it because they do not realise what damage 1 tonne of metal travelling at speed can do because they are ignorant of basic physics? The fact that young men drivers have had their insurance costs put on a par with young women is insanity and makes a mockery of actuarial science.
  13. Where are they going to be planted? Can't get to the Library in the near future.
  14. Time Stands Still- Rush (don't understand delayed post yesterday?)
  15. mmmh- the global village- at what cost?
  16. Friends of the earth have estimated that this country can sustain 30 million people. Why is it that politicians (apart from Chinese ones) never mention population control? (Because they are happy for us all to live in misery so long as they get their votes methinks) The world population is increasing at an unsustainable rate and nothing is being done. This is because politics works in the short term and they just have their eye on the next election and will say and do whatever it takes to manipulate the ballot box. You may say I am a cynic but I have been involved in all hues of politics and they all want one thing- power- and are therefore not to be trusted
  17. Beating on Death's Door- Lamb of God
  18. This obsession....
  19. How is a Sunday a 'typical' day when there are only 52 of them in a year and there are over 300 other 'working' days?
  20. And all those grooming paedos would have a field day!
  21. Thanks s-l. If people vote UKIP in the same proportion as these local elections in a general election then we are in for another 15- odd years of misery since Labour will win the next election.
  22. A reputable car dealer told us that many cars are just stolen to order. You need to get a tracker in it.
  23. What was the turnout? After the expenses scandals people do not trust any of the main parties- I'd wager that all politicans are seen as self-serving vote-catchers by the majority who don't bother to vote.
  24. It's all Over Now, Baby Blue- Bob Dylan
  25. Yep- all of the above- Welcome to London!
