  1. Fuschia - I would definitely blub to that!
  2. My mum and sister have had thyroid probs (underactive I think) so you may be on to something Gubodge... though hopefully not(!)
  3. Just been listening to my birth playlist (having a bit of a soppy evening) and wondered what songs fellow forumers' babies were born to. My boy was born to 'Something Changed' by Pulp which seemed poignant and 'right' as it was also our one of our wedding dance songs.
  4. Wet towels on the bed... incorrect use of your/you're... the phrase 'to be fair'...
  5. Not really sure where to put this, but as there's a lot of experienced mums looking at this hopefully you can advise... I have a six month old baby and I'm still breastfeeding (mainly). My ankles and wrists are really quite sore, especially first thing in the morning. I'm also pretty knackered (even though the boy sleeps pretty well) so taking iron supplements (when I remember to). Anyone else experienced the same thing and found a remedy? I'm assuming (possibly incorrectly) that this all relates to breastfeeding and that I'm deficient in something or other. Googling has suggested tennis elbow, but I'm not convinced.
  6. Saw one of the McGann brothers walking down Lordship this week AND Shirley from Eastenders at Sainsburys about a month back - she looks much better in the flesh and smiled at my baby - joys of maternity leave!
  7. Finally ready to entrust our five month old with a baby sitter. We have someone in mind but have no idea what we should be paying her. Also, what's the done thing re transport home?
  8. Nipple pain still a recent memory for me :-( Nothing new to add given the excellent ideas above. just hope you're feeling better v v soon. I was in despair with the pain and really dreaded feeds at the lowest points but now it is gone and I'm really enjoying feeding my little boy. Try to hang in there xxx
  9. Nope - missed them! Got off lightly by the sound of it. Glad I kept the chain on!
  10. I think they're something to do with rehabilitating offenders - we've bought cloths (not v good quality ones as it turns out) before. Reason for asking is that one of their guys has just rung my door bell at bloody 10 pm, which is out of order in my book and it would be good to vent my frustration in the right direction. May be a bit more on edge with new baby in the house and husband away on stag jolly... And yes I know I can ignore the door but I find calling so late at night a bit intimidating - any ideas??
  11. Thanks guys - top tips! Milton tablets V good idea - still have major baby brain so packing for self also good call. X
  12. Girl bits = fairy (courtesy of my mum); boy bits = jimmy riddler (no idea where that's from)
  13. Really hope you managed to get on a local course. I left registering late (12 weeks) as I was superstitious about counting eggs etc but by a stroke of luck got a place on Tess' course in ED - we had a brilliant experience and got on v well with the other couples. Because I was so late there was no space avail initially in ED but I told Alison what I ideally wanted and she came back to me a few weeks later to say a space had come up - so worth stating a preference if you can't get first choice. would def recommend Tess' 8 week course if there are spaces - allows bonding time with other couples and Tess is a really lovely teacher!
  14. Hi all - about to venture out of London for the first time ever with baby Mc for a whole week! At the moment he's going through a very pooey stage which I hope will resolve itself before we depart(?!) Anyway, was hoping for some brilliant tips on what to pack, how much to take etc etc? Also keen to hear strategies on getting baby to sleep on the journey (to N Wales). He's generally good and nods off in the car but untested longhaul! We need to set off late morning so driving through night not an option this time. He has two bottles a day but is otherwise breastfed, thinking maybe of setting off after morn bottle and hoping for the best!!
  15. Sophie, maybe you're right - Nikki put herself at real risk by intervening and was v lucky to come out of it unharmed. Perhaps unfair to expect others to do the same - esp as I couldn't see myself getting stuck in, even though I'm from Leeds:)
  16. The brave lady is none other than my cleaner, Nikki, who tried to protect the man being attacked with help from an off duty policewoman. She is absolutely tiny and so brave to have intervened as she did - I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have had the guts to get so physically involved. I always knew she had a heart of gold but clearly she's also as brave as they come! It must have been a truly horrendous attack - she's had to throw away the clothes she was wearing due to the fact they were covered in blood. If Sainsbury's doesn't train its staff (particularly the security guards) to deal with these kind of incidents then it's time they did. I wasn't there, but it seems that the security guards and other staff stayed well away whilst Nikki and the policewoman fended off the attackers. If it were not for their intervention, this could well have been a murder incident. I'm pleased to say that Nikki got away with some minor cuts but I think it will take a while for the shock to wear off.
