  1. Mike from HomeCert replaced some transformers for our kitchen spotlights last week, after I had seen some glowing endorsements on the forum

We were just in the process of moving house and wanted to ensure the spots worked okay for the new buyers. Mike came out at very short notice, was on time, polite - and kind enough to stay on in our empty house after we left with the removal van to finish the job off.

He ensured the lights were restored to full working order, left the site clean and tidy, and was kind enough to lock up afterwards!

    Highly recommended - Mike?s number is 0207 205 2255

  2. We bought the booster 2 years ago for our 4 year old, then noticed the regs changed and it was specifically because they offer no protection on side impact. We were just about to do long journeys around France for the summer holiday and decided to buy the full seats with head rest given the boosters are now deemed unsafe

if we are doing a long journey and our 6 year old needs a snooze she also looks much more comfortable in it

It is a pain compared to the booster though!

We stayed at Jules et Jim boutique hotel in the Marais last September when we went to Paris for a friends wedding...blissful 2 nights away with friends and no kids. Its a perfect location in le Marais so you can walk to everything.

The hotel has lots of art installations - a great breakfast and immaculate rooms (they are a bit on the small side buts its Paris!). It is very contemporary and has a laid back, chilled vibe. Great bar too.

    Highly recommended

  4. I would like to buy a collection of 'learn to read' type books for my daughter to have at home. She is 5 1/2 and in Reception so she has one or two books a week from school which we read and make notes in her reading log.

I thought it would be a good idea to have a series of books at home which help her to read and may be a bit more interesting for her (!). I am sure I saw something recommnended on the forum to get their child more engaged in reading but I can't find it.

    Any recommendations welcome!

    Thanks

  5. 'I?m sorry to report that approximately 10% of appointments each week are where patients DO NOT ATTEND. Last month this was 219 appointments wasted'

This might be due to the fact that the earliest appointments you offer are 4 - 6 weeks ahead?

I left DMC over 18 months ago due to the inability to ever get through or get an appointment. You refer to there being problems in the NHS in obtaining appointments, though my new surgery (also in SE22) has none of your problems. Perhaps they are more concerned with patient care than registering new patients and making even more money?

  6. We went to Menorca last year with a 4 year old and 1 year old and stayed at Punta Prima the Prestige section through sovereign

It was great - huge interconnecting apartment/hotel room so kids slept separately - lovely pool, few minutes walk to beach with a few restaurants...and then you can use the main hotel for entertainment.

We went half board as wanted the kids to be at the apartment for lunch/snooze and knew we would'nt make the most of the drinks in all inclusive etc. Half an hour from the airport. Basically highly recommended!

And the weather in mid June was 28 - 30 degrees every day...

  7. For what it is worth, we almost put Bessemer as our first choice last year even though it was not our nearest. It was a very close call as we were extremely impressed with the Head and the ethos of it as well as the space. So if Bessemer is your nearest school you should go on the tour and get a feel for it. We know alot of happy parents.
