  1. I reckon three weekday clubs on consecutive in addition to school is too much for reception.
  2. Most parking appeals in southwark succeed!
  3. That's really sad bawdy-nan, reflects my experience in the 90s (not in london), shame hasn't changed!
  4. Will preferential school admissions be provided? Would bump up the numbers!
  5. Any chance of a summary of the story for people who don't want to click a link without info?
  6. The value of family support close by shouldn't be underestimated! It does sound like things are hectic for you in ED! If a commute to Brighton could be an option for jobs, think there's a big media/digital cluster there -"Brighton Fuse Project" research.
  7. My problem with the treetrunk is that a huge tree is a lovely, natural thing, and concrete doesn't seem right.
  8. None of them are a patch on the Hepworth :( The ryan gander and tree trunk ones are OK. The metal one is ugly and in the style of the Diana fountain! Not keen on the giant multicoloured spider thing either
  9. "MuTu Mamas" (Uk all-round fitness for mums but discusses diastasis recti) http://mutusystem.com/category/diastasis-recti-exercise
  10. "Tupler technique". http://www.midwifesimone.com/_/Just_for_You_files/Exercise%20Diastasis%20Rehab%20-Tupler%20technique.pdf
  11. So glad to find this thread, think I have this (self-diagnosed) and is getting me down, have lost fair bit of weight and done pilates / abs work but no better, have been reading up online, will try to post links.

  13. Sympathy, sleep deprivation is horrible. I co-slept, which helped in some ways and hindered in others, then at 12 months did Dr Jay Gordon's night weaning, which took 5 nights of hell but worked! And carried on feeding in the day/early eve. Info is online, but think it's for 12 months plus. Another option, if you're thinking of winding down breastfeeding, would be mix-feeding so you can get more of a stretch of sleep sometimes.
  14. I live in surrey, just within M25 it's nowhere near as multicultural as London but not all white/british either. Don't know about racism. On more practical side of things the house, space, childcare, schools and so on are all great, but the commute (especially for two people working in London) is hideous!
  15. Not in dulwich but we have a "dog turd tree" in our front garden, it's a dark-green leaf shrub that got out of control ( previous owner lived there. 50 years), really smells, especially after rain. We want to cut it down but our (generally very nice and reasonable) neighbour doesn't want us to (it obscures a view she doesn't like).
  16. : ) fuschia! We took normal potty, tipped wee in shrubbery!
  17. You can use ordinary athlete's foot cream, has worked well for my almost 3yo!
  18. Obviously otta, but surely many children in southwark in 2006 had that potential and were let down!
  19. Dr jay gordon's method helped me at 12 months, night weaned but continued co-sleeping and feeding in the day. Took a week or so, first few nights were hellish and my husband did a lot of that! It's free online.
  20. We have stopped going to cornwall and switched to Dorset, much reduced travel time!
  21. I worked for them as a teenager many years ago, awful company! Not cold calling but typing up specifications for alarms and things. Odd place. Sorry to see that they've not changed.
  22. Outside london you can sometimes negotiate half or no fees for time children are at preschool. Probably tricky in a market like ED though.
  23. Epsom downs, train to tattenham corner from east croydon, then under 5 mins walk, good for cycling, lots of routes online and a few places to eat, from tea bar and ice cream van near downs, good greasy spoon or fish and chips near the station to posh pub food at derby arms.
  24. Childcare is especially challenging for anyone not in a "9-5" permanent job, hope you find the right care soon!
  25. Worth trying to negotiate, often easier done over email, gives everyone time to think. I guess you may pay more if only looking for one day a week, but that sounds steep. On sick pay think it's standard that you don't pay for her sick days (or her children's if she has them) but pay for your child's. On holidays, be careful, if it's down to her when she takes them and they are paid it's v tough on you! My CM takes unpaid holiday (she chooses, but must be in school holiday times) and we pay for any time off we take.
