Just to let local families know about the brilliant youth wind band that my son goes to that is looking for new players to join the group. Rehearsals are every Tuesday between 7pm and 8pm at St Clement with St Peter Church hall (Barry Road). The band also do informal recitals every term for parents and siblings to watch as well as play at local events such as the Dulwich Christmas Cracker, Street Partys etc. The band consists of brass and woodwind instruments from beginners up to grade 8, aged around 7/8 years old to 16 years old. Ruth, arranges a mix of contemporary pop, show themes and classical music for them to play. Contact Ruth Hayes for more information on [email protected]

Doodle 1 and Paul O'Brian, my son was also declined entry to a local Cub group (I assume the same one) as we are not catholic - I was also very upset about our child being discriminated in this way from our nearest cub group. It was only due to my son's persuasion that I continued to explore other groups and he now attends the 34th Camberwell at Rye Hill Tenants which is a mixed group with a strong community ethos. Its a shame though that we have to trek for 20 minutes across the park in the dark in the pursuit of inclusion - shameful.
