  1. Absolutely love the idea of another lido in the area!! I swim in Brockwell Lido every day, starting when the temperature reaches 12C which is usually sometime in April. Big difference will be that the Peckham lido would be heated and people can swim outdoors the whole year around. The outdoor swimming season at the Brockwell lido is for most people really short as not many people fancy swimming in water less than 19C (which still feels cold as an indoor pool is usually around 28C). I believe it would be very popular; outdoor swimming is absolutely wonderful!
  2. Hi Nicky, Maybe get in touch with Musico South (musicosouth.co.uk). I'm sure they'll be able to find you the right teacher.
  3. We installed our Yale alarm ourselves. Very easy to do as it is all wireless. The motion sensors are 'pet friendly' for pets up to 20kg. We've got a cat and she has never set of the alarm. Had this alarm for a few years now and no complaints at all, very happy with it. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Yale-FRIENDLY-Telecommunicating-Wireless-Wirefree/dp/B00D3L0XCI
  4. This might be a bit out of the way for some people.. Puregym is opening in Kirkdale, Sydenham (think it'll open in March). They'll be open 24 hours a day. Not too expensive, 20 pounds per month and I believe that includes all the classes you might like to do as well.
  5. I did quite a lot of research into the Vitamix as it's such an expensive piece of equipment. In the end I found this machine which is at least of the same quality as the Vitamix (probably better if comparing reviews and technical specs). It is much cheaper than the Vitamix so possibly an easier decision to make. We've had the Enpee for a few years now and would not be without it, it's absolutely fantastic. Super powerful, amazing piece of kit. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Enpee-Commercial-Grade-Blender-Smoothie/dp/B006M5JI5A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1452249129&sr=8-1&keywords=enpee
  6. You should really call Silvano Bozza, he was my son's teacher. He's a fantastic driving instructor and has lots of recommendations on this forum and on Freeindex. He's kind, patient and just a really nice guy. Would very much recommend him. His details are: [email protected] and 07702615834
  7. This wouldn't have anything to do with the replacement programme from Apple?? https://www.apple.com/uk/support/ipodnano_replacement/ Just think everyone should have the right information on this issue...
  8. I would like to add my recommendation for Billy. He replaced our boiler and did a fantastic job. Knowledgeable, honest and a very nice guy.
  9. Used to be able to keep my son entertained for ages with a washing up bowl with bit of water and soap, brush and lots of plastic animals. He would wash them all and then dry them all. Took forever :-) . Also, had a shoe box with all sorts of everyday items; empty cellotape rolls, wine/champagne corks, small bits of string, lids of milk cartons, sea shells etc.. Really, just about anything that was safe for his age (must have been nearer 4) and that wasn't a 'toy'. He loved it, there were always new things in the box and it really promoted imaginative play.
  10. My son had Silvano Bozza as his driving instructor (and passed first time :-). He's a really good instructor, patient and very knowledgeable. Look him up on Freeindex where he's got lots of reviews, or on this forum.
  11. Another recommendation for Billy Hunter. He fitted a new boiler for us. He did a great job! Very professional and a really friendly guy. Lots of reviews on this forum and also on Checkatrade.
  12. Maybe a Kia Sedona is an option. It's a massive car, even with all seats up there's quite a bit of storage space left. Very strong and reliable, but with a 2.9 liter motor it is not the cheapest to drive. Great and reasonably economic on long distance, expensive in town.
  13. Totally agree Tiddles! It doesn't seem like Alleyns School has parties every weekend (if they did we would read about it on this forum..). Just let it go, there are surely more important things to worry about.
  14. Another recommendation for Silvano. My son recently passed his test (first time). Silvano is a fantastic instructor, his teaching is really of the highest standard. You could also have a look at Freeindex (search Silvano Bozza); there are well over 100 reviews on this site.
  15. Give Billy a call, he's just fitted a new boiler for us. Great guy, reliable and very friendly. Did a fantastic job! Lots of recommendations for him on the forum. Billy Hunter (Hunter Heating Solutions) on 07986 296453.
  16. My son has today passed his driving test (1st attempt with only 2 minor faults) and I thought I'd recommend his instructor in case anyone is looking for a good local driving instructor. I found Silvano through the forum and would thoroughly recommend him. He's a great instructor who is committed to making sure his students become competent and, above all, safe drivers. His phone number is : 07702 615834. Email: [email protected]
  17. There are temporary traffic light on Sydenham Rise. Causing queues back to Dulwich Woodhouse Pub.
  18. The Cake Store in Sydenham is fantastic! www.thecakestore.co.uk
  19. Try The Cake Store on Sydenham High Street. Their carrot cake is fantastic!
  20. I drive several times a day over Sydenham Hill and I can honestly say it has become so much more dangerous since the introduction of the 20 m/h speed limit. As I'm sure you'll know Sydenham Hill is a very long, wide road with not much traffic (except for rush hour). If I drive 20 I'm being overtaken every single time I drive along this road. I really do feel pushed into going faster as cars are driving so close to the back of my car, flashing their lights etc. I find it very intimidating. In the 11 years that I've lived in this area I never had any problems on this stretch of road, however, since the introduction of the new speed limit it's terrible. I really believe this is an accident waiting to happen. I fully understand 20 m/h speed limit on smaller roads, however on roads like Denmark Hill, Sydenham Hill etc. it is madness.
  21. Try musicosouth.co.uk or jasspa.org.uk
  22. Try Bio Oil, worked amazingly well for me!
