    Young Mumbai housewife, Ila, tries to spice up her marriage by preparing a special lunchbox to be delivered to her husband at work. By mistake, it is delivered to another office worker, Saajan, a lonely old man. The absence of a reaction from her husband leads her to put a note in the next day?s lunchbox. Thus begins an exchange of lunchbox notes between Sajaan and Ila, which evolves into an unexpected friendship.

    Leonard, who was beaten severely by the man who killed his wife, suffers from a rare kind of memory loss. He remembers life before the murder, but is unable to recall anything for more than a few minutes since then. He resorts to taking copious notes, Polaroid photos and even tattoos himself to remember. He retains awareness that his wife was murdered and is determined to find her killer.

    An unreconstructed Nazi teenager comes to terms with her father's crimes and a nation's guilt as she steers her four younger siblings through a mortally surreal landscape in this subtle, eerie portrait of WWII-torn Germany.


    Directed by Australian film-maker Cate Shortland and adapted by Robin Mukherjee from a story by British novelist Rachel Seiffert, this is a powerfully intimate and beautifully acted film with the fragmented, surreal quality of a dream that refuses to pull its punch.
