  1. If anyone is thinking about having a sofa or chair re-upholstered I wanted to recommend Annemarie @ Angle Upholstery on Melbourne Grove. I've just taken delivery of a sofa and cocktail chair and they look fab. Annemarie was a pleasure to deal with - such a lovely lady. Super prompt on email and very helpful with advice throughout, she didn't try to sell any expensive cloth to me, in fact she was very mindful of our budget and was happy to come to our house and spend well over an hour showing me through swatch books. The finished work is of a very high standard and I feel like we made the right decision to do up our old sofa rather than buy a new one. The final cost wasn't that much different from a sofa.com type price but we couldn't find anything that matched the style and size of our old sofa which we loved so were really happy to invest the money to bring it back to life. If you are weighing up the pros and cons in buying new or re-upholstering old I'd definitely give Annemarie a call before you decide 0208 693 4869 or [email protected].
  2. Looking for some who can create something akin to this in our open plan hallway / dining room - we knocked down a wall and floor in hallway is different colour and level to the dining room. reckon best way to sort it permanently (rather than chuck a rug over it - my current solution) is to level and tile the hallway so the finished effect is something like the attached. Recommendations much appreciated Thanks!
  3. Hi Creative spaces did our loft over the summer and I can't recommend highly enough. They worked to a tight schedule, clear budget and managed the whole project really efficiently. The standard of work was really high and they were really responsive to any snagging list requests at the end. You are welcome to come and take a look or pm me to get a full reference over the phone. We are based at bottom of gipsy hill.
  4. Sorry looking at their sponsored post 'Create Space' are actually Creative Spaces Design & Build ltd.. Thanks all
  5. Hi We have been badly burnt by a cowboy builder/conman in the last 2 years - IAN FORT ex of ED Complete I am talking about YOU. Anyway moving on (!) we are now looking to do a loft conversion and I wondered if anyone could share experiences of either Loft Life or Create Space?? Many thanks in advance SC
  6. Ah brilliant thanks- poor ds2. I was about to book ferry tickets to France in July and TOTALLY forgot that he needed one!
  7. Hello Apologies if this has been posted before - did run a search but couldn't see anything. Does anyone know where to get baby passport photos done now that the place next to mrs Robinson has closed? Thanks :)
  8. I had planned section for breech baby and it was nowhere near as bad as I expected. The theatre staff at kings were lovely, the theatre was bright, sunlit and everyone (bar me and husband!) was very relaxed and recovery was quick and fairly painless. Walking even short distances was very tiring for at least 2 weeks but I was able to look after baby chocolates without issue from day 1. Everyone is different and you may find physical recovery harder, I guess it is partly due to luck and partly due to being in reasonable shape before you go in, but for me the worst part was being on ward for 2 days, that was pretty grim! however I found Ecv very unpleasant and if number 2 is breech I will just let nature take it's course. however your babies arrive will be totally amazing so try not to worry too much - Good luck!!
  9. I would be keen to get involved in a petition or similar but like you say there might be something underway already by Barry rd RA...I bet there are members lurking on EDF who could clarify...
  10. As someone who lives on Barry rd I disagree with comment about people knowing there are some blackspots. Local drivers may but as Barry rd runs paralell to LL but with no traffic lights etc it is often used as a cut through for a) people going way over 30 and b) lorries/coaches who want a quick route to a205. I get why there are no speed bumps as emergency services use it and it's a main bus route but I have often though speed cameras should be installed. Am generally very anti more ways to make driving expensive in London but I think speed people drive down Barry rd is incredibly dangerous and am surprised that it's not site of more frequent accidents. I was even going to write to council about it but scared of becoming a nosy old biddy as it is without a bit of local campaigning!
  11. It really does get easier around 12 weeks! I speak from recent experience as my baby is now 16 weeks but spent first 9/10 weeks of life crying and i never thought it would end, but it slowly got better and things have been so much easier in last month or so... Mine spent 90% of time in a sling - especially when indoors as i could potter around and generally just feel like i wasnt destined to spend rest of my life on the sofa...do you have one? there are probably loads for sale v cheaply on here if not. I found it to be total lifesaver as he would chill out for hours in it. Early evening is the worst as it feels like day has dragged on forever - have you tried feed/bath/story/bed from about 6? baby will probably take a few weeks to cotton on that it means bedtime but doing this every night really helped me feel like i was making (some) progress. :)
