  1. ... I had a question and googled the answer to stop this going off on a tangent!

However, picking up on the point re men reducing working hours and getting more involved in childcare - I think it's a matter of time / generation change that we will see more of in future. Don't know much of the practicalities of it now and in my line of work (HR) have only seen requests for part time work coming from men close to retirement who want to work 3 days per week for a couple of years before finishing... But a number of friends have spoken of the pros of both parents working 4 day weeks. Have seen that working better where fathers have been self employed, but I would expect the trend to change as dual careers become more of a reality.

Sorry - this seems a bit of a tangent now too...!!!

  2. ... Or indoors? My partner and I are moving to ED shortly. The Victorian terrace (who'd of thought it?) we're buying has original fireplaces but the flume has been closed off. Have others reinstated these despite being in smokefree zone and managed ok with smokefree fuel?
  3. I'm so relieved that the only finger wagging / tutting about this has come from an Ambridge fan (and yes, I do get in from my day and tune into Linda Snell...) but after realising 15 threads had been sewn (!?) on this topic I assumed I/we were going to be sternly told off. Thank you all for the mutual support (though really? national inquirer? They've been obsessed with poor Jennifer Aniston since nineteen oatcake)
  4. Oh how funny. Honestly - I know the feeling! I don't know how they manage to make it so captivating, it's so terribly bad it's compulsive viewing! I am also trying to avoid said website, though it's hard to avoid at lunchtime in an office, where their pictures and strong minded views by far trumps the BBC. Stick with it. Find a higher brow alternative (Stylist for example) and circumnavigate your issue by finding a friend or colleague to bring up their site on their PC - so you can simply look on a clear conscious over their shoulder...
