  8. Please join us at 6PM on Tuesday 28th May outside Downing Street to protest Israel's horrific assault on Rafah. The images coming from Rafah last night will be seared on the memories of all who saw them. ... It is now more important than ever that we come together to demand that our government ends its complicity with this genocide. The UK must force Israel to adhere to the ICJ ruling to cease its assault on Rafah and stop all arms sales to Israel. We hope to see as many of you as possible tomorrow in London to send a message which can't be ignored. Thank you for your continued support of the Palestinian people and your tireless campaigning for a ceasefire. In Solidarity, Simon Foster Deputy Director, PSC

  11. Next fall in energy cap: https://www.theguardian.com/money/article/2024/may/24/energy-price-cap-in-great-britain-to-fall-in-summer 'Energy price cap in Great Britain to fall to £1,568 in summer. Drop from £1,690 driven by fall in wholesale gas prices but household bills still substantially higher than three years ago.' 13. 'We have launched a six-month trial called Access DLR to help make journeys on the DLR more accessible. This pre-booked assistance is available seven days a week, between 07:00 and 19:00 each day for anyone aged 18 and over. Access DLR is for anyone who needs support to travel. No proof of disability is required to use the service. You will be met by a member of staff at the DLR station of your choice and accompanied until you reach the final DLR station on your journey. Assistance can be booked online or by phone on 08082 81 66 55 (call charges may apply). As the DLR stations are not staffed, the service needs to be pre-booked. If it is not pre-booked, assistance cannot be guaranteed. This is initially being run as a trial until November 2024. You can find out more about Access DLR on our website. Every station on the DLR has step-free access.'

  16. Good evening neighbours in the vicinity of 10 Underhill Road, between the South Circular and Melford Road, I am posting a call-out for potential witnesses or security camera/ video doorbell footage on behalf of the owner in respect of a burglary in the early evening of Easter Sunday. Please contact the police non-emergency number (101) quoting CAD number 5131/31Mar24 if you saw anything or have any information. Between approximately 1900 and 1945, still in daylight, two men broke into the building works currently ongoing at 10 Underhill Rd and stole a considerable amount of tools and equipment. I spotted them at about 1935 and called the police, but it is likely they were there for sometime beforehand. The police attended at about 1945, a couple of minutes after the thieves had driven off towards Melford Rd/Barry Rd. The men returned later on that evening, at approximately 2100, and re-entered the property, stealing further equipment. You may have been surprised to see two 'builders' in the early evening on Easter Sunday going back and forth, carrying tools and equipment from the front door of the house, through the barriers at the front of the property and loading them into a dark grey, small hatchback car parked directly in front of the property on the street. You may have seen one of them climbing a ladder at the front of the house and covering a security camera located on the scaffolding at first floor level with a black bin bag. Maybe you saw them when they returned at around 9pm. Suspect 1: - male, white, 60s+, heavily lined/wrinkled face (weathered), white/grey hair and possible short white beard, medium height (5’6’’/5’7’’?), small build - wearing yellow hi-vis gilet (no sleeves) over dark clothes, black beanie-type hat, although could see hair colour below Suspect 2: - male, darker/olive complexion, 40s-50s, similar height, dark hair, clean-shaven smooth face. - wearing dark jacket (possibly fleece)
  17. Depends on the medicine dispensed, or did you mean writing a prescription that will be fulfilled elsewhere? I think last time that came up it was £40c for writing a prescription, but that was a while ago. However, on looking at the price list online, a prescription charge is listed as £29.50, so it has improved [https://www.theneighbourhoodvet.co.uk/about-us/prices].
  18. Reminder to read & submit meter readings at end on month before change in energy price cap: https://www.theguardian.com/money/2024/mar/28/uk-households-urged-to-submit-meter-readings-ahead-of-energy-price-cut
  19. Direct link: https://palestinecampaign.eaction.online/GazaChildren 'Roughly half the population in the Gaza Strip are children. Like adults, they have been subjected to the same brutal Israeli attacks that have already killed over 31,000 Palestinians, 70% of whom are women and children. Palestinians are currently starving as Israel blocks much needed aid reaching them, and children are at highest risk from these conditions. Doctors have been forced to amputate limbs from bombed kids, even without having access to anaesthetic or pain relief. Thousands have been killed, with many more orphaned or losing multiple family members. The British government’s response has been shameful. Rather than holding Israel to account for its war crimes, the government has suspended funding to UNRWA over unsubstantiated allegations made by Israel. UNRWA is the primary agency providing food aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and the organisation responsible for the education of 543,057 Palestinian children. In the past weeks, the EU, Canada and Sweden have all resumed aid to UNRWA. Now Britain must do the same. Please take 2 minutes to help change this. Your voice matters putting pressure on the government.'
  20. Article regarding dangers of feeding bread to swans for those unaware of health risks to ducks and other wildfowl: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/rspca-swans-flamingo-pink-bolton-park-b2508748.html 'Visitors to Moses Gate Country Park in Bolton called the RSPCA after spotting the bevy of swans looking tickled pink. The charity said the group of birds were suffering from “pink feather syndrome”, which can result in swans struggling to swim and fly. The condition is caused by a fungus which occurs when bread starts to decay in water. ' ... 'RSPCA animal rescue officer Stephen Wickham, who collected the swans, said: “We know how much people enjoy feeding swans, ducks and geese, however, it’s important to make sure they are given the right food. “Unfortunately, bread fills them up without giving them the nutrients they need and it can affect their health. “We’d encourage people to offer them finely chopped greens, such as cabbage, spinach and lettuce, as well as mixed corn, grain, wheat or bird seed. “Any feeding should also be done in moderation and only as a supplement to their natural diet.”'
