  1. I reported online to police but really they need to pick these guys up in the act.
  2. Just had a guy on barry rd knocking on my door..told him I wasnt interested and got some abuse... I do worry when they knock on elderly people's doors.
  3. I am looking for someone to re wire or repair an intercom system that is not working. Not sure if this is an electricians job but any recommendations gratefully received.
  4. Just called the flying pig and they are not showing it, neither is the actress but told me the Alexandria (?) in Clapham common is so best head over there early if you want to catch it. Think I'll just listen to it on the radio - could be over in 3 rounds!
  5. I also fully support the action and hope to see more of this naming and shaming. It's a massive problem in East dulwich and I and also fed up with a persistent offender allowing their dog to mess outside the front of my house. Woodstock - well done and I hope you catch the guy and he gets the fine. It is antisocial behaviour and needs to be taggled with more cctv as most of the time it happens very early in the morning or late at night when people know they won't be seen.
  6. I have going regularly and the last few times felt less and less comfortable but thought I was being a bit sensitive. I have overhead some odd conversations too and whilst I'm always up for some banter this was just a little odd - don't think I'll be going back anymore. Interesting to know it wasn't just me though.
  7. I agree with the above..I can't see anyone seriously watching their speed without a threat of a fine. Unfortunately, looking at rch's detailed agenda of what needs to be done and the cost involved, it looks unlikely to ever happen.
  8. Hi rch Why is it a problem to have speed cameras on barry road and make the speed limit more obvious? The main issue with the road is that is very long and straight and quite simply is asking for speed. Unless some strong action is taken I.e proper controls - speed cameras, fines etc you will struggle to slow the traffic. I walk this road every day and am shocked at the speeds cars and motorbikes get to and the levels of overtaking. James barber - is it a funding issue to get speed cameras installed or something else stopping this?
  9. Another recommendation for Maurice the plumber who fitted a kitchen tap for us this week that was in a very tight space and needed a little extra pipe work. He is reliable, competitively priced and a pleasant guy to deal with. Good to find a a reliable plumber who turns when they say they will and doesn't charge the earth!
  10. We had our carpet fitted last year through Westminster carpets (towards forest hill) who were very good . We did have a quote from Jim cox ( who is a nice guy and sure does a great job) but it worked out not much different than Westminster. It is always cheaper to but the carpet online yourself but you have to be sure of exact measurements etc so it is easier to go through shop who just do everything and get the job done in a morning. We also looked at the shop in lordship lane , their quotes were very high and overall I found them a little rude. We spent ?3k through westminster and the same job was quoted at nearer ?5k with ll carpets. They also tries to rubbish Westminster carpets when I told them we were looking at quotes from them, which I thought was a little low.
  11. Brand new unused monitor and keyboard bought as part of a package but not needed. 21 inch screen. ?100 no offers. Pm if interested
  12. would like to add another recommendation for matthew Hanson and his team who recently decorated our home post loft conversion and completed some woodwork on our staircase. He provided some good advice on how to make the new build blend into our existing house and he is able to advise on all aspects of building and decoration. He is a nice guy to have round with a friendly team who are tidy and respectful in your home. I would recommend him and would likely use him again for future jobs.
  13. setter Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hi James - Apologies if someone's asked this > already but what's happening about enforcing the > 20mph speed limit? Just witnessed a skip hire > truck doing about 40mph on Barry Road. Agree setter - some cars on barry road specifically are going way too fast and there really needs to be action to slow down some of the traffic.
  14. Hi Exhausts can be a bit pricey and I wouldn't expect much change out of ?100 for one but could be much more. Spark plugs you can buy online for a tenner and a new battery is about ?30/40. I take my bike to Honda riders in Peckham, they should be able to sort out all the repairs. Aside from the exhaust it shouldn't be too expensive.
