  1. Only good things to say about them. We adopted, or rather adopted by, a cat last year. They could not have been more helpful. From the medical side of things, to how best to make her feel welcome in a new home. Totally recommend.
  2. I've gone for the dashcam approach, which was a difficult choice since I'm not a fan of the UK massive over surveillance society. Many months ago I reached the point where I decided if it's needed I'm going to have my own footage to the police. The final straw was a cyclist a few months back who ran a red light at a 4 way junction attempting to pass between me and the car in front, who were the 4th and 5th cars of a stream going through a green light at around 20 mph. Having managed to avoid him (fab response from the guy behind me), bike guy then wants to get into it, yelling he is gonna call the poilce. He seemed a bit taken aback when I said, 'ok go for it, I'll wait right here'. Naturally at that point he proceeds to ride off, threating me with this and that.. Sure, the junction had CCTV all over it and red light cameras, so if it had gone bad in the end I would have been ok...but... I have no interested in waiting 12 months paying for lawyers waiting to be proved correct. I wanna get that sorted out 5 mins after the event, as I'm sure most people would. I'm not on a tirade again bikes here, that was just the final annoyance. Could be a car, bike, or a horse for that matter. I drive all over the world and in some crazy places, however imo the UK is one of the most agreesive places to drive right now. For me it was time to take a proactive and protective approach.
  3. Often hard to find just the right folks when it comes to handing over the keys of your car for a service/repair... I'm very picky about my cars as I usually maintain them myself, having previously had the good forture of access to a full mechanics garage setup and a lift. The PitStop guys know cars, and they like cars too, which imo makes the difference when working on anything complex and mechanical. They have all the lastest diagnostics and programming software plus a complete understanding of modern vehicles. This is very hard to find these days, even at a dealer. Newer or older car, these guys know their stuff and they are pleasure to do business with. A huge thank you to Hassan and the guys at Pitstop for their faultless work on my cars recently. You can find these guys at the address below. 9 Upland Mews East Dulwich SE22 9EG 020 8299 4995
  4. That is possible, however it could also be that these set of roads are now being use as the peak time overflow for Rye Lane and also queues which happen around Goose Green at rush hour. The council's proposals which seem to aim to increase the flow of traffic in this pocket of roads, can, imo, only make this problem worse. Restrictions also need to be made for lorry weight, in addition to flow restrictions on car traffic, with the aim of redirecting them back to the main roads, and away from the residential ones. In addition to the major accident today, yet another massive lorry had to abandon it's attempts to use these roads, nearly taking out 3 parked cars in the process.
  5. I am a Nigel Road resident who has seen an extraordinary rise in traffic volumes over the past 6-12 months on Nigel, Anstey, Relf and other surrounding roads. The entire pocket of roads around Bellenden up to and including Nigel Road is now subjected to a constant flow of car and lorry traffic, and recently one truly astounding 18 wheeler incident. The traffic noise levels have grown to become a significant and constant problem, with a serious impact on the quality of life for most of the residents I have spoken to. As the council's desire seems to be to actually increase the level of traffic, i.e. "improve journey times and access for motorists", logical conclusion is that noise and traffic volume can only get worse for local residents. As someone who lives on a two way street which is only a couple of hundred yards long, but seemly now a rat run racetrack, I would have to completely disagree with the councils assumption that two way promotes traffic calming. I can appreciate that there is no logical route from one side of Peckham to the other, with the high street being bus only for most of the day, but that frankly is a problem the council have caused for us all and needs to be rectified, but not by using the surrounding roads two as an overflow for the problems caused by making Rye Ln buses only. Personally I would actually like to see many more of the local roads having vastly improved traffic calming and flow restriction mechanisms implemented, rather than opening them up to more traffic as is proposed by the council. I will be writing to the local MP and also directly to the council. Kindest regards PS and this happened 5 mins ago...biker t-boned an SUV, speed was the issue...
