I agree with Kalamity Kate, customer service is just not in their vocabularly. Shame as they have good stock and it would be such an asset to use them. I've been in there times hoping to buy carpet but the chap is always rude, combative, offhand and dismissive, so I've given up as I always come out feeling furious. Only once had a nice chap on a Saturday and I've never seen him since. Weird, you think they would recognise a serious buyer. I'll try your lot next time. Thanks.

I want to recommend a brilliant chap Dave Nichols - The Cookerman - from Pegasus Tel: 07506 104882. He came and fixed our (old) Smeg range cooker, which hasn't worked properly since 2007! I've had three lots of people in at various times and they all said different things, charged me lots, said they'd fixed it and they hadn't. Just got used to it not working properly. It got desperate and I thought I'd have to buy a new one which I couldn't afford so thought one more try... I found Dave through East Dulwich Forum and can't recommend him highly enough. Cooker is now working perfectly, it's got gas burners and an electric oven and he sorted the whole lot out, (plus all work guaranteed he says) we can't believe it! All done carefully, charmingly and reasonably. So any problems call The Cookerman on 07506 104882.

Beware the offer at Barbur... (the excellent indian restaurant in Brockley Rise) It's not as straight forward as they say, i.e. after 9.00pm 7 days a week if your order a starter you will get a main course for half price (for up to four people) Even if you have discussed this with them when you book the table, they will say you need to have the coupon with you when you come to pay the bill. So, be aware, or take your iphone and get the offer while at the restaurant outthere

Can anyone recommend a good gas/cooker engineer to sort out my old dual fuel Smeg cooker? Needs servicing probably and sorting out as the rings are intermittent to say the least. Something is wrong with the gas supply or something as it comes on and then goes off again when they get hot, particularly when the oven is on. Can't afford to replace it. thanks
