  1. this is fascinating, thank you so much for sharing it.
  2. Hi there, I was wondering if anyone in the forum has had an experience of requesting a successful admission of their children outside of age group (reception year) who could give me some personal advice. Many thanks, R
  3. The point is not what we want, we all want a world where a car is not needed. The point here is what the Council should do for you, the tax payer. The council is there to serve you. The council should help us not making out lives harder by some general higher goal. What is next? Sending troops to Ukraine? A butcher sells meat, a Council should help its constinuitents to live easily, more practically. Simple as that. Anything else you are not fullfilling your mission.
  4. Another ridiculous money grabbing initiative from the council. What a killer.
  5. We have seen, since the pandemic, a determination from the council to support any initiative that could reduce/ restrict the usage of cars in the streets. It is not only this increase but also the reduction of parking spots in areas where there is no parking permit, it is the inclusion of safe zones around schools, it is the reduction of pathways making some streets to be on constant traffic. All of this under some sort of climate change appeal or trying to reduce emissions caused by cars. I have never seen such lack of self awareness of what a council should do and missunderstanding of how to positively impact climate change through its position in society. If the goal is to impact climate change, please focus on waste management, which is a function of the council and it is poorly handled. We don't recicle enough, we can do a lot more there. The situation in the streets of southwark (especially east dulwich) is becoming so difficult that asks for a different approach. We need more council members who are there to make our lives better, not harder. Life is already super hard to manage with all the commitments (family, financial, etc) . We need a council that helps you. Looking for candidates who are against this absurd that is happening now.
  6. Have used Niko (or Nico) multiple times. He is reliable, quick and knows his stuff. I have replaced valves, fixed leaks, checked boilers, fixed clogged drain pipes, you name it. 07818 607583.
  7. Dear all, Many of us have been impacted by the change of address of the Post Office in Silvester Rd. I have just yesterday received a planning permission application (18/AP/3271) to comment on which will replace the site with a new 3 floor building and asking for comments until 10/11 (yes, about 10 days from now). The permission doesn't even show documentation relevant to the works (so no one can see what is actually planned). For my family this will be a disgrace. We recently moved to a property on the side of the post office and part of the reason we bought the property was because of its privacy and the sun which now seemed to be compromised. Despite that, I also think the overall community has been impacted not only by the move of the post office but also the sudden creation of a bunch of new flats in a very small and comprised area. (you can actually find comments in this forum about the struggle it is to go to Peckham and queue for one hour every time a parcel is not delivered). So I would like to ask your help on 2 things: 1) any advice on the process to object to the planning permission. Anything will be helpful - from people who went through the process to how the council usually takes the objection process, etc. 2) if you feel you are personally impacted by this change to object as well. I will update this thread as I find more details with how you can actually do this. Many thanks, R.
  8. Jovaner - a solid, trustworthy, dedicated decorator. We hired Jovaner to paint walls, fix windows and fix cracks throughout our flat. There is nothing to criticise, really. The chap is very, very detailed oriented, knows crack fixing techniques that I have never seen before, leaving walls looking like new (I have re-decorated my flat on several occasions never anyone mentioned to me that these techniques can be applied). Jovaner also fixed our sachet windows that were leaking inside. Not an easy job, several people came over and told me that it was too hard to do it. On the painting work, a lot of care with pieces of furniture, edges, etc. Jovaner even installed a door stop to prevent our front door from damaging the entrance wall without us requesting. The work was quite clean, considering the amount of sanding and dust that was generated. Jovaner is also very proud of his work so he is always thinking the best outcome for you as a client. I can't compliment enough.
  9. Just as I was about to add my bad experience with Danny, I read nespresso comments. I had a very similar experience - the guy came, "fixed" my leakage and charged me a lot which I didn't question because my leakage was going to my neighbour and I wanted to get fixed as soon as possible. It turns out that, instead of fixing the issue (which was basically changing a damaged bath waste into a new one - something that I now know), Danny put loads of silicone around the bath waste. As a result, the bath started to leak a few days later and the silicone came out. I tried to contact him many times and just heard excuses. Just like nespresso, I arranged his return many times just to left there waiting for him at home. After more than a week without a functioning shower, I had to go to someone else who not only fixed the problem bu charged me significantly less. Hope you find this useful.
  10. great plumber, changed my bath waste, fixed my leakeage. Grand sense of humor, clean very reasonable. Strongly recommend.
