...hello?

Hi all, we're due to register our newborn on Wednesday and we have a question regarding her surname. I'm the father and am currently changing my surname, the idea being that I've never liked mine and didnt want to saddle our sprog with a shit last name. I just wanted to know what the legalities of doing this are? Can I simply show up on Wednesday and give the registrar my newly assumed surname to apply to my child and once its down on the birth certificate is that legally binding? Any advice and info gratefully received. M.

...for a flat removal on the morning of friday 20th March. We're leaving most of the furniture behind so it wont be a back-breaker and I'll only need one man as I'll be coming along for the ride and helping shift stuff. We're moving from Hackney to Hitchin in Herts so if theres anyone out there who want to earn a few quid PM me. Regards, Mike.

recommendations for bathroom fitter
bon3yard replied to newto Dulwich's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Yeah, I'm still looking for someone to come and refit my bathroom. Reliable workmen seem in drasticly short supply. I'm in Hackney and our local forum is rubbish hence using my old haunts forum instead. Any recommendations would be most welcome. -
Is there a phone number for this company? Really need our bathroom sorted and decent builders are hard to come by.

We're a little further afield David but theres a good weeks work here(Hackney)I reckon. I've sent you an email with brief details and if you're interested I can send you pictures and damp surveyors report. M. -

Thanks Pickle, we're looking for both roofers and renderers at the moment and its not easy getting people around to quote. Do you happen to know anyone decent who would undertake interior work(bathroom, kitchen etc?). Kind regards and hope the family are well, Mike. -
Bathroom refit-decent, honest builder recommendation.
bon3yard replied to bon3yard's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Thanks Scotslass. I'll check him out. -
If anyone can recommend a reliable, honest bathroom fitter I'd be very much obliged. We've had a few ruins with cowboys in the past so would welcome being pointed in the right direction regarding a decent company. We need walls and floor retiling, a new shower fitted along with shower screen, side of the bath panneled, ceiling painted, extraction unit fitted and a few other bits. Its not a huge room, maybe 5'x7'. Work to be started asap. Kind regards, Mike.

Thanks for the recommendation Jenny. -
Hi, erstwhile resident of ED now abiding in Hackney and looking for peoples recommendations for extensive exterior work(New flat roof, rendering etc)and fitting of new bathroom and other sundry tasks internally. The whole process of getting reputable builders is fraught with difficulty and having just had an expensive and time-wasting run-in with your common or garden cowboys- "...erm, have you ever done any roofing work before?", "Sure, sure!" we really need to get it right this time. So, any advice and recommendations would be welcome. Thanks in advance, Mike.

I bought my girlfriend a Nook for her birthday a few weeks back and at ?80 I'm very impressed. The screen resolution is easily better than my nexus 7(2012)as is the speaker quality(crisp and loud). Build quality is solid and it runs a customised version of Android. Bang on for a budget tab. Recommended.

Come die with me . . . cyclists, drivers, pedestrians all welcome
bon3yard replied to kristen's topic in The Lounge
Nice one Kristen, you beat me to it. I'll be there. M. -
Yeah, Frances all the way for me. I've liked the craic that both her and Mel enjoy. Kimberley has the air of a smug prefect and Rubys lip-biting self deprecation though genuine is starting to pall.
