  1. Having just completed on my house sale, it is another huge thumbs up from me for Brendan and Tony at No Flies estate agents. I had previously had the property on the market with another agent who promised me the world (no doubt to get my business) and then failed to deliver on every front. I got No Flies in and things could not have been more different. I received honest, well researched valuation advice and the house was under offer within a couple of weeks. Communication was excellent throughout the transaction. The advice I got from them was always pragmatic and prompt even when Brendan, who dealt mainly with the sale, was on holiday overseas. One supposed issue arising on survey, for which my buyers wanted a £20k reduction, was expertly dealt with by them and the sale proceeded without a price reduction at all. I cannot recommend them highly enough. They were a pleasure to deal with and excellent value to boot.
  2. Hi there. Welcome to the area. Your solicitor is not correct. We used to live in a half house. Each house has its own separate freehold title. There is no single freehold title covering the two adjoining properties for you to have a share of. It is not like a double fronted house that has been divided into two vertical flats. Whilst the property may look like a double fronted house it is not legally. It is two separate freehold houses next to each other just like adjacent terraced or semi detached houses. The only difference is that there is a single entrance into the road, but that is just the same as two houses having a single lane or driveway up to them. That issue is dealt with by rights of way over the shared hallway. Your freehold title will grant a right of way to your neighbour over your half of the hallway and their freehold title will grant you a right of way over their half of the hallway. All this should be very clear from the title deeds - where the Land Registry will have been very clear that what you are buying is a freehold property. I hope that helps.
  3. Just had Dave@Down the Drain round to sort out a blocked sink/drain. I cannot recommend him highly enough. He turned up promptly, sorted the problem very quickly, his charges were very reasonable and he provided helpful advice.
  4. I think if you mean bags such as shown in the attached picture then there is unlikely to be a market. The one pictured came free from a local estate agent and by the look of their website they are still offering them for free http://no-flies.co.uk . Also, M&S are selling branded ones for ?4. Maybe there is a market selling them wholesale to businesses if you have the ability to brand them?
  5. Thanks for the replies - I have had a chat with Dan at Sing Eazy.
  6. Hi, I am thinking of trying to do a bit of singing - I have previously been in choirs but it has been a while. I am not sure this is the right section to post in but, if not, Admin please feel free to move it. Most of my free time is during the day. Is anyone aware of any good and friendly local choirs that operate during the day rather than the evening. This would be as much a social as a musical thing for me so I don't want anything too serious or complicated as I don't read music. Thanks.
  7. Did the Cherry Tree one last night and can thoroughly recommend it. Thanks for the recommendations.
  8. Is anybody aware of any local pubs that have a quiz on a Sunday evening?
  9. Has anybody had any experience of AMW Independent BMW Specialists in Railway Arch 65, White Post Street, London, SE15? Or does anybody have any recommendations for local BMW servicing?
  10. Aw Shucks! French? I was so hoping for a pizza, burger or Indian place ;o)
  11. Persepolis in Peckham http://foratasteofpersia.co.uk has loads of Middle Eastern produce - not necessarily Muslim - but i am sure you can find plenty in there that will appeal to your guests
  12. "dirty but skilful" - how very House of Cards. "Toast Rack Roads" - I don't think so.
  13. The Victoria Inn, Bellenden Rd did a fine fish & chips when last I had some there.
  14. I'm afraid I do not rate the Communion Bar. The cocktail list looks really interesting but the cocktails fail to deliver. The Crooked Well is usually great for cocktails; though on the last occasion the barman had no idea how to make a dirty martini - but there again I was ordering one on a Saturday lunchtime so I probably got what I deserved!
  15. King Joffrey (aka Jack Gleeson) in the Montpelier
  16. What, simply the BEST? BETTER than all the rest? BETTER than anyone? Anyone I've ever met?
  17. Blimey - BEST - he must be good if he moved you immediately to register on here and make your first post. That having been said, some estate agents who are new to the area do seem to have that galvanising effect on people - for example see eastdulwichfan on the following thread http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,1170289,page=1 Will they never learn!?!?
  18. I can also add my recommendation for Mason and Green. Really excellent service and very well priced.
  19. The problem with the Palmerston is that it is completely inconsistent. I have had brilliant meals there and also ones that were practically inedible - I can well imagine the lamb was raw not pink as, amongst other things, I have had revolting undercooked (supposedly roast)pork belly there (floppy, unrendered fat, glutinous skin - which the chef said was the way it should be). I don't go anymore.
  20. Yep I have encountered him outside DKH school last week. Same story but I think it was a different church he mentioned. When he finally got round to asking for money and I refused he simply turned on his heels and headed off in a huff.
  21. I think the food is not bad at all at the EDT - have had excellent fish cakes there and a great Chicken Caesar Salad recently. It is pretty straightforward food but nicely done in my opinion.
  22. Can only add to the recommendations - had a great night at this place with friends last night. The food was excellent, the wine good and reasonably priced, the atmosphere lively and the staff well informed, enthusiastic and charming. Loved it.
