  1. Try Aralia Tree Surgery - Charles Hurst is the owner and very knowledgeable. His mobile number is 07747 735 256. We use him when we have tree work for the properties we manage. Katy
  2. I've just had a look on their website but it's more about double glazing units. I will give them a try though, thank you.
  3. Hi, I'm having my plastic front door replaced with a wooden door and I'd like 2 panels of etched glass in a pattern to put in, 950mm x 200mm. Could I have recommendations for a local company to supply this type of glass? Many thanks.
  4. We have just finished using Norwood Roofing for a couple of the properties we manage. We also used him on a property last year where previous roofers had let us down but David took over and solved the problems. He produces clear photos of before and after the work. The work was done on schedule and we are pleased with the high standard of work. He identified a further problem we had not identified on one of our properties so it was repaired before it started leaking. Competitive prices too! His website is [email protected] tel no 0741 2000214
  5. Yes Lordship Lane Carpets are very rude and surly. They slammed the phone down on me yesterday - very, very poor attitude to potential customers. Avoid, avoid!
  6. There was one in Dulwich Village which closed down 18 months ago. It was very expensive!
  7. Hi all, looking to rent a mini or something similar for a month, maybe 2 months from next February. Could anybody recommend a good (obviously cheap) local company for this type of hire? Many thanks in advance.
  8. I moved to South Norwood in 2011 near the Country Park and have not regretted it. Property prices def on the increase in the area. Thameslink due to arrive in S Norwood in the next couple of years (apparently). Check out South Norwood Tourist Board for an irreverent look at SN.
  9. Hi, could anybody give me the name of a company who could remove some artistically applied car scratches. Gone down to the white so unfortunately quite deep. I've heard there are specialist companies who may do this and I'd be very grateful for any recommendations. Thanks.
  10. I would recommend Keyhold - I have been both a tenant and Landlord and their service is both personal and efficient.
  11. I moved to South Norwood nearly 3 years ago. Got a 3 bed house for same price as a 1/2 bed flat in Dulwich. Yes it is run down, great if you want jerk chicken though! My daughter who uses public transport all the time feels very safe. Great community spirit. Local Harris Academy is apparently joining up with the Upper Norwood Academy which is v good. South Norwood Tourist Board getting rave coverage from national press and had BBC down for a piece on their referendum on leaving Croydon. They even got Captain Sensible over to unveil his commemorative bench - priceless. I really feel it's a great place to buy, certainly worth a look!
  12. I would also recommend Charles Hurst from Aralia Tree Services. www.araliatreeservices.co.uk He is very knowledgeable and polite.
  13. Hi, Regarding removing bees nests - we have one in a bird box - address in SE24. Is anybody interested in taking the swarm away? Worried as children in the garden.
  14. Could somebody recommend the name of a company who would take my car away from the garage and give me some money for scrap value?
  15. Does anybody know whether the woman who gave birth in Dulwich Village yesterday afternoon is ok? Watched by all those at Gails and Pizza Express, she had her baby in a small 3 door hatchback! There was a doctor and an ambulance on scene and she was able to get herself into the ambulance afterwards. Wishing her and her new baby all the best!
  16. As long as they learn to be courteous to their customers, I'm happy.
  17. I think it is Tiger Spring Teas. They have a website if you type in the name, it will come up. They're a really friendly couple who know their stuff. The Earl Grey tea they do is gorgeous, well worth a try.Mmmmm
  18. Yes,I was told to 'calm down'. This was after I had tried to engage the lump's attention as he clearly couldn't be bothered to listen to what I was tying to communicate. We have also sent in a complaint email before now for a similar lack of service 2 years ago. No response.
  19. I think it was said 'Lump' who gave me bad service today and last week. Totally appauling customer service. Unfortunately I think he's the one in charge!!
  20. I've just had yet another frustrating conversation with Lordship Lane Carpets. How do they stay in business when all of their staff are so rude to customers? I have contacted them at various times over the last few years for business and personal carpet requirements and they appear to have no regard at all for their customers. I'm sure I'm not the only person to complain about this carpet shop of horrors - Mary Portas, get your a**e down to Dulwich and teach these idiots how to treat their customers with respect!! EJ Carpets in Forest Hill, so much friendlier and cheaper will be getting my bucks in future.
  21. Well, just before Christmas I was at North Dulwich Station,I'd just missed my train and decided to sit down for a minute. On the bench beside me I found a plastic bag full of brand new music CD's and PC games. I took them back up to the ticket office which had the blind down. I knocked on the window until they opened up the window and handed over the bag. The lady looked at me as if I was mad when I handed over the bag of CD's and told her they had been left behind. I really hope the owner came back to claim them. I know I felt better handing them over than just leaving them where I found them. It didn't lead to me having a better day or anything but it's nice to try and do a good turn.
  22. My car was parked in Village Way on Tuesday and somebody just stole my passenger-side wing mirror, kindly leaving behind just the wire sticking out. I don't think it was an accident, I really believe they were on the look-out because of the clean way it was taken. So cross!
  23. It might not have been the council who got the tables and the keep-fit sculptures. It could possibly have been done by the Friends of Dulwich Park.
  24. There are also some 'installations' around the road in the park that look as if they are keep-fit orientated. Last time I went around the park they were still bubble-wrapped, so difficult to tell. I hope to see a few 'fit' men embarrassing themselves soon!!
