  1. Hello all, Got a penalty charge notice in post from Parking Eye claiming that I'd stayed in the car park overnight. They sent photographic "evidence" with the predictable wordy threatening letter. Basically they took a picture when I entered on one day but failed to take one on my departure and instead took a picture when I left the car park on a separate visit the following day. I appealed on that basis and got the charge cancelled. It did cause me some stress! So, if anyone else gets the same kind of letter, don't panic but appeal! Their "evidence" is a load of rubbish! Tea
  2. Many thanks Sue! But I've now signed on to British Gas (they have an offer) so it's covered. Take care, Tea
  3. Hi all, Help please! Advice and/or recommendations much appreciated. Our boiler (Ideal Mini S24) used to provide lovely hot water (constant) and heating (on thermostat), although for a few weeks now the heating came on a good few minutes after we turned up the thermo dial. Now, it sounds like it will fire up but then fails to. It provided hot water without CH but now we don't get either. We called a local Gas Safe engineer when we stopped getting hot water. He said it was the fan but when he replaced it, it didn't work so he said he'd replaced the components to the divert valve. He didn't give me a receipt for the work so can't be sure of the details. The CH and HW worked for one day before packing up again. The engineer says that we need a new pump, as that's the problem. I've done quite a bit of Googling and going mad. We've checked the rads for air and increased the pressure. What else can we do before forking out more ???? What could it be? Is it worth getting repaired? Help please! Many thanks, Tea (cold)
  4. Thank you all! I'll have a look at all of the suggestions. Much appreciated! Tea
  5. My husband has given me the task of finding something that will hold/store his bicycle on the wall - its current home, the hallway, bothers me more than him. Unfortunately, our walls are thin dry wall/plasterboard. Please, any advice, pointers on gadgets, hooks etc gratefully received. Many thanks!
  6. Hi all, Starting this thread for any issues etc relating to the new playground in Peckham Rye Common. Issues raised so far: Tyre swings removed soon after installation and water pumps to be switched off during icy weather: Response from Cllr Renata Hamvas(Labour Councillor For Peckham Rye Ward, [email protected],02075255223): "Regarding the tyre swings, the issue is to do with the bolts that connect the tyres to the chains, it is a design flaw that sits with the company that provided the equipment. The contractor and Officers have been liaising with the company to resolve this. Officers say this should be resolved soon. I understand that the team on site are monitoring the weather and will indeed turn off the water should there be any icy weather. Officers have mentioned that the water play is still very popular, so has left it on at this stage while the weather is so mild". Thanks, Tea
  7. Good evening all, I hope this post finds you well. Does anyone know of any Jiu Jitsu or some other type of martial art clubs in the local area? My daughter was "strangled" at school the other day by an older child. The strangler was spoken to and is apologetic, but I've just been told by another parent (who didn't know what had happened my girl) that her daughter was strangled in the same week too! My daughter was confused, couldn't explain it to me clearly and thought it was a game. Anyhow, I think it's a good idea to get her into a class to help build her confidence, assertiveness and deal with bullies etc. Any help appreciated. Many thanks, Tea
  8. Hi tarafitness, I made the application but was unsuccessful. I can't remember why exactly and I can't find the letter I received, but it was disappointing. I'm hoping no other incidents happened since. I rarely use the Goose Green park now as the new Peckham Rye Common Park is closer, although it has its own problems with damaged swings and one area, which had swings made of car tyres, has been removed! Oh well, the children love it! All the best, Tea
  9. Happy New Year all! I have a 5-year-old in reception and would like to do some extra reading, writing and numeracy activities at home. I've heard of 'school run', 'twinkl' and TES but are there any other apps and/or sites I can access/subscribe to for online activities/printable resources? Please help, I'm not very creative when it comes to making resources for little ones! Many thanks, Tea.
  10. Hello everyone, Many thanks for the comments/suggestions/advice etc. I agree that the park should be accessible to all, old and young, but I can't help feeling anxious about that ball hitting a child's face! I have made a Cleaner Greener Safer Capital Programme application 17/18 application (thank you Cllr Renata Hamvas for the link). Let's see what happens. Thanks again, Tea
  11. Hello everyone, I want to know your thoughts on the basketball area and the use of cycles in the playground. I witnessed one pretty bad incident a few weeks ago when a football hit a woman's face. My husband had to run to the local cafe to get ice and she needed a good 30 minutes to recover. I've also had a ball come in our direction from a great height but deflected it. Today, a child of about 12 rode his bike through the main area (where the slide is and very young children play) and knocked down my 3-year-old. He rode away without looking back, but my daughter needed ice and now has a badly bruised bump on her temple. I know it gets busy and children have accidents and bump into each other but having a heavy, hard ball hit a child's face is very different and would cause serious injury. I don't understand why the young adults/older children who want to kick a ball around don't go to the green area over the crossing! I was thinking of talking to parents when I visit next, and perhaps getting a petition together, taking film/pictures of the basketball area when populated by older children playing football(as they play/kick the ball pretty hard), and perhaps approaching the council or local MP about having restrictions (no cycle riding or hard balls signs etc.) and a barrier between the basketball court and the rest of the play area, which is mostly used by toddlers and infants. Your thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  12. Thank you so much! Decision made. Will call them first thing on Monday.
  13. Hi, I am 6 weeks pregnant and have been offered the option of Oakwood Midwives by Forest Hill Practice. I was hoping that forum members could provide reviews to help us make a decision. Many thanks.
