  1. We used Ian Foster at ifosterwindows.co.uk. They were a recommendation from a friend who'd had hers done by them; they are great and the windows are fab. A neighbour used them as soon as she'd seen our windows too!
  2. Thanks so much for these posts - that was our tandem. We're going to claim it tomorrow and hope it's not totally trashed. Such a mindless act - I assume riding a tandem was too complex for these idiots to work out so they had to dump it. I think we need to lobby the Horniman to increase security when the nature trail is closed - better burglar proof fencing and maybe some thick prickly planting could help deter opportunistic thieves.
  3. Those both sound great. Is that at dulwich pool Coach Beth? Could you pm me the details pl civilservant? It doesn't seem to be connecting for me from this link. Many thanks
  4. My 5 and 3 year old daughters are both confident "noodle-users" and very happy in the water, but would now benefit from structured 2:1 lessons - they are only 14 months apart in age so hopefully can be taught together. Ideally I'd like them to be taught some time Mon-Thurs after school, for half an hour at either Dulwich pool or at the JAGS pool. Does anyone have any recommendations pl? Also an idea of price would be helpful. Thanks N
  5. great thanks. have also started receiving possible candidates from Cinderella agency. Fingers crossed!
  6. Can anyone help with recommendations - we need a driving, English speaking, kind, honest au pair who is over 20. I've registered with a couple of agencies but so far no joy. We have had quite a few expressions of interest but very few have responded after we've sent pictures (it could be that's how it goes, it could be because although we're brits, we're of Indian origin), and of those none so far can do the hours/can drive/want to stay long enough/are old enough. has anyone got any thoughts on best route to go down to find the right au pair?
  7. Thank you so much taper - that's a lovely message to read as we've signed up for both the girls to go to HH in September. It's really good that they give you their honest advice and assessments too and yes, I'm really hoping that the 7+ will be less stressful and see them settle into one of the great schools we have on our doorstep. And well done to your daughter - she clearly is a little star in the making. You must be thrilled and proud.
  8. Thanks callacc. We did like the nurturing aspect at Rosemead but the most recent Ofsted was a bit of a disappointing read. That made a big impact on us. What do you think about a new Head coming?
  9. They are both fab. I, my sister and two of my friends have had a total of 10 babies between us with Brierly. All excellent experiences. I know someone who had a baby with The Lanes and that was v good too. We're lucky to live where there are good home birth options
  10. My 3 and 4 year old girls have been offered places at Herne Hill and Rosemead Schools. We were in no doubt that HH was our first choice but have recently heard stories that there is a new Head and owner at HH and standards have really slipped. Lots of the girls moved to Rosemead when they finished at HH last year so should we just go for Rosemead and save the girls the disruption or go for HH in the hope that it will bring out their super-brains needed for them to get into. JAPS or Alleyns aged 7?? Anyone with experience of either school?
  11. Hi I am running the London Marathon on Sunday and I will be running for local charity Dulwich Helpline. They got a free place from the mayors office, so all proceeds go the charity. I live on wood vale, and am a member of dulwich runners I've raised ?1000 so far, and would be grateful for help to get to ?2000 I tried 50 shops in Lordship lane and Northcross road last week so thanks to those who contributed I will be publishing a list ! http://www.thebiggive.org.uk/project.php?project_id=6919#donate You can call dulwich helpline to donate direct or call me on 07973768812, Ajay Khandelwal Or just wave if you see me on the day my number is 52658, and I am trying to run 3.59!
  12. How horible is this - our bike (a ladies, dark grey Trek bike) was nicked yesterday from the side passage of our house. That would be bad enough but it had a child's bike seat attached so whoever took it really was heartless. And they took the bike cover too! So if anyone tries to sell you a dark grey ladies Trek bike with rear luggage rack and chain guard, and /or a Hamax Sleepy child seat, please don't buy it - but please do contact me! I'm keeping an eye on ebay too just in case it shows up there. Thanks everyone
