  1. Quite a busy road and difficult to park at times (if you have a car). Surrounding roads just off Cheltenham road are nicer (I say that because we live off one of them!). Our report mentioned risk of flood which seems loopy as we're on top of a hill... I've never known it to flood (in 4 years).
  2. I'm with edcam. Pick up the poo in a bag, follow her home and repatriate it through her letterbox with an appropriate note.
  3. Fingers crossed it will go to Catford (where we are shortly moving to!!).
  4. Hi all, In a more practical question - is the Blythe Hill area of SE6 and SE23 very nice at all? We are looking to move out of our beloved Nunhead for more space (at cheaper price)! Any views welcome (particularly on schools and whether the area has/will improve)! Thanks!
  5. I live in Nunhead and to be fair, that bit around the station isn't particularly nice at night time. Were you looking at a place near the station or just worried about getting a train from there? I can't imagine, for instance, that general crime is any better in the surrounding areas but if the concern is purely about using the train station then I would go with your gut feeling.
  6. Danny Read has just re-done our back roof and he was excellent. He was reliable, reasonable, professional, totally trustworthy and did an excellent job. He managed to do it without scaffolding too. Tel: 07737131600
  7. In response to Chickpea:- a) Normally one would apply the brakes - of course, if a pedestrian is mere feet in front of you then this will not help either party. Obviously it is also not particularly easy to move out of the way when this happens on a busy road which cyclists have to share with cars/buses. This happens with alarming regularity in Rye Lane b) Ringing the bell doesn't usually work in my experience. People either freeze or ignore it. Many also have headphones in etc. I would also add that people just don't seem to 'get' that bicycles have stopping distances too (which particularly suffer in the wet). I say all of the above as a pedestrian, cyclist and motorist.
  8. Absolutely horrible - sorry to hear that. What did the bloke/bike look like?
  9. I can second this - Half Moon Dental is brilliant. I have a mini breakdown every time I have to go to the dentist and they are very gentle and distract you well. I've seen Andrew who I can recommend.
  10. We were really pleased with Loft Life. They were professional, helpful, honest and did a great job.
  11. Hi, We used loftlife who were fantastic - really pleased with the end result. They were considerate and thoughtful with the day to day chaos and mess (always cleaning up after themselves).
  12. Thanks to all suggestions!
  13. Hi all, Looking for a good roofer to do some fascia boards on the gable end of our house and a few other minor bits. Please can I have any suggestions (we need someone who is likely to come at fairly short notice). Thanks!
  14. They sound great. Do you have a phone number for them?
  15. There's a brilliant flute teacher called Karen Bertolaccini. I've worked with her for years. She's lovely, very reliable and is very good at getting students through grade exams if that's what they want to do - 07968619427
  16. Scallywags is brilliant! It's on Tuesday mornings during term time from 10am-11.30am and it meets at the scout hut by Dulwich golf course. It only costs ?1 and it's run by Grace Church Dulwich. The people are really friendly and there's real coffee and homemade cake with water and biscuits for the kids. There's a baby corner, lots of free play with clean toys and some craft activities. There's a short bible story and lots of singing too during the last 15mins. It's the highlight of my little boy's week.
  17. My 18 month old boy can play in the paddling pool for hours, especially if he has cups and bottles in there too. We bought one for ?3 from Tesco Direct. He also loves the little ball pit he has.
  18. Just a quick post (and a shout out) for anyone interested - we're having our loft converted into a double bedroom by loft life. So far we would highly recommend them - Jake our project manager has done a sterling job and everything has gone through very smoothly. They've patiently explained everything going on each day, tidied up after themselves and cause as little disruption to our home life as possible. The design process was easy and the loft is starting to look very good indeed. Will post again once finished.
  19. Nunhead the next Peckham? Hardly. Nunhead is far nicer than Peckham (as a generality).
