  1. Looking for a carpenter/handy man that can fix our front door. It's a small thing but needs care otherwise if left untreated the weather will affect the wood. See attached picture Thanks!
  2. Incredible to see how much different is the opinion if you own a car and if you don’t. Glad that children could have a voice in the consultation and they all support the change. They are quite vulnerable and spend their entire childhood with this constant need to pay attention to cars around them.
  3. Hi All, I wonder if there is any parent/carer here that can give feedback on local secondary schools re how neurodiversity is supported? Almost time to put down the preference and not sure which one does a good job. Charten North, East, Kingsdale or Harris Girls? I am particularly looking for support for dyslexia Thanks!
  4. VAN THEFT - our beloved van (picture attached) was stolen in Melbourne Grove (junction with Blackwater Street) last night. Plate (I doubt it is still present), FZ841VG, Hymer, model Ayers Rock - 2.3 140 It is an italian one so the steering wheel is on the left side. It has a "CAMPERIS" sticker at the top left on the tailgate. Thule tent. It was seen last time at around midnight and it was gone this morning. We called the police. If you have seen anything or if you spot it please reply onto this thread. It was our dream come true and it was full of beautiful memories which makes the event even more traumatic. We really hope to find it. Thanks for any help you'll be able to provide.
  5. Hi there, I lived in California where I used to shop in a big grocery store, built as a cooperative (all the employees were also owners of the place). It was a zero waste shop and I loved it. I loved the idea son much that I wanted to bring it here. Looking for a partner in crime for a while, but couldn't really find one. Please feel free to PM me to talk about it.
  6. I am really sorry, but I am not sure why do you keep saying that 7.5 is useless.. It has been implemented (enforced, whatever) in February. I didn't ask for an opinion but, I wanted to know if you can help since the contractor is not finishing the works. The results, it's wild parking (which means cars parked on the apex). In my opinion, the "no crash" record it's really a poor point to raise. Do you need accidents to happen to convince people that something is wrong? I believe it is so much better to prevent them instead... These are tiny streets and the more space we get at junctions, the better, so you can see who is coming from around the corner and make sure none get stuck. Also and again, big lorries (big problem) have more space to turn etc. If you still want to stick to the no crash record, I can tell you that probably there is no records of accidents because the majority of them are "silent" - in the last 6 months I found my car with 3 dents and I have seen at least 2 lorries scratching cars parked and leaving quickly.. I don't know in other areas, but here 7.5 it is definitely needed and i was so happy that was implemented! Going back to my first request: do you know how to chase the contractors? Thanks!
  7. I guess pointless is really not the right adjective for the double yellow lines. I would rather use it for something else, but let's skip the details. You clearly don't know the situation in this area, very close to Lordship Lane and main shops and restaurants. Well, I live here and I see it everyday. From buggies and weelchairs that can't cross the street, to the MANY lorries stopping by for deliveries and many cars parking on footpath everyday. BUT that's not the point. THE ROAD JUNCTION SAFETY WAS EFFECTIVE IN FEBRUARY AND THE CONTRACTOR HASN'T FINISHED THE WORKS. Different problem. Thanks
  8. Double yellow lines between Bassano Street and Blackwater Street and on Blackwater Street haven't been finished and despite I have sent a couple of emails to the Road Junction implementation responsible, the works are still not finished. Result: wild parking in the area. Who else can be contacted to speed up the works that were supposed to end in January?
  9. Dear Friends, my name is Elena and I am an italian mom who lives in London since 2010. I'm posting this note to gather the attention of all the Italian friends that lives in Dulwich and nearby or anyone interested in our culture and language, as I would like to set up an Italian playgroup once a week. I have already in mind a place where we could gather, however I might need to check the interest first to see if the place is right for the purpose. The playgroup is aimed at parents/carers who wants to speak, practice, learn Italian as well as have a taste of the Italian culture. It is also going to have an holistic approach as I am a fan of the Waldorf method as well as forest schools, herbal medicine and in general love the holistic approach to the way of parenting. My motto is "Think positive, Be yourself, Act green, Respect Others" If you are interested or would like to get some more info please reply here below onto this thread. Ciao! Elena
  10. Hello! Haven't been through the whole thread but my concern is about speed limit. Despite the 20mph people are driving very fast and sometimes can be even dangerous. I live in Melbourne Grove and this is a big problem. What can be done? What about having some police random check? THanks
  11. Hi folks, my daughter will start the reception in September 2016. Elena
