  1. Hi everyone, Anyone got any recommendations for a good ED property company? We're looking to rent out our flat on Lordship and wanted to hear about peoples experiences. Cheers!
  2. After a four year wait, and two properties, we finally got the opportunity to get Steve from Back to Wood Floors to restore and treat our floors back to original boards. Steve and Nicola did our stairs, landing, hallway and new dining room and the result really is absolutely stunning. We found them on the forum several years ago and they come, without exception, very well recommended. They we always available and responsive to questions before they began, came on time, well prepared and eager to create magic in another property. It was truly a pleasure to have them working for us for a week and we absolutely would not hesitate to be calling them again for any future work (which we don't there is now we've seen the result!). We could not get over how clean and tidy the house was at the end of each day, you hear nightmares about floor sanding, we literally could not tell that such messy work had been done come 6pm each day, excepting the amazing floors of course, incredible. Thank you EDF for helping us find them and thank you Steve & Nicola for transforming our home. Back to Wood Floors are on [email protected] or call 07949 411650
  3. Just had Alan Naish from 123 Chimney Sweeps round to help us get a second room working again. Alan's always so helpful, full of advice. This time, thanks to Alan, we've saved over ?800 of what would have been wasted money. Thanks Alan! Professional, punctual and friendly, I can't recommend him enough. http://www.123chimneysweeps.co.uk 07956385112 Cheers,
  4. Had John round for his third visit in as many months (different issues) This time he installed our new internet thermostat. Fast and friendly as ever, he came over with just a day or two of calling, fitting his schedule around ours. He had it licked and done within an hour, and this is after me trying to make head or tail of it for three days! Thanks John, highly recommended!
  5. Hey all, A quick recommendation for Dulwich Eco Gardening. Saied has been fundamental to major changes we are making to our garden and his advice, friendliness and seriously hard work mean we are finally getting closer to the garden we always wanted! Saied has landscaped half the garden, dug the other half up to install a utility pipe (long story) and got very busy indeed with a LOT of ivy! Saied is one of those magic finds, someone you know puts in MORE than you expected, rather than less as with a lot of workmen these days. Highly recommended.
  6. This is another sincere recommendation for Saied and his team. After finding him on the forum after being let down by another gardener, Saied came round and showed his willingness to pick up the mantle. Over the next 8 months, we have a huge amount of work to be done; landscaping, bedding, tree felling, bordering, the list goes on! Saied & team started in earnest on Monday (yes, Bank Holiday Monday!) and has shown truly expert skills and provided untold advice on the random acts of madness we are trying to commit on our garden. A massive amount has been achieved and they all have an admirable work ethic. We very much intend to keep Saied on to maintain our garden after the current works are complete (one day left!). I can heartily recommend Saied as knowledgeable, trustworthy, helpful and polite to a fault. Benjamin
  7. Just had Alan round this morning. Friendly, efficient, EXTREMELY clean and was more than happy to advise us on other stack questions we had. Can't recommend highly enough, will defo be using for our annual.
  8. Following the recommendations on the forum, we contacted RJS Carpentry to build us four alcove cupboards/wardrobes. From the first visit, Ryan (RJS) was knowledgeable, open to customer requirements and very easy to deal with. It was a very big job he took on (see pics) and Ryan & his team worked and completed it with an ethic rarely seen these days. We absolutely love what he did, it's transformed our house. I can't recommend him highly enough. Ryan 07962385294 http://rjscarpentry.co.uk/
  9. And this is a +1 (really a +2 but we forgot to post last time ) Niko has helped us with a flooded cellar and, more recently, replaced a busted down pipe that was spewing unmentionables across our doorstep. He did it quick, and under estimate. Helpful, honest and very approachable. Can't recommend highly enough. B
  10. Hi all, We had Tony come to our place in Sydenham on Tuesday - we only texted him on Sunday! He arrived on time, was friendly & professional and the job on the carpets is nothing less than fabulous. First thing we said was we'd have him back to do more - texting him right now actually! Highly recommended. B
  11. Hey all, I've recently decided to fianlly have a bash at learning the piano after years of thinking about it. Can anyone recommend a good piano teacher? Also, does anyone know how much lessons cost (I honestly have no idea!) Thanks,
  12. Not wanting to stir up trouble, but I've only used this wash once - they put a scratch on my door mirror. I didn't raise this with them as only noticed afterwards and had no proof anyway. Looks like a piece of grit was stuck on the shammy. Prob just unlucky and a one off but enough to make me not go back...
  13. Hey Little Miss, There's some great ones around. My partners mother is a dealer and comes down to London regularly to attend some. She consideres the best ones to be: Battersea Boot Fair Spitalfields market on a Thursday for antiques, or Friday & Sunday for general market Camden market on a Sunday Hope this helps and have fun! B
  14. Yeah, been waiting for the open day for weeks! Had a nice chat to the two Ladies, both really friendly and helpful. As for the ice cream, wow! We got back from Italy just on Sat and had eaten authentic gelato every day for 4 days. I can easily say this was at least the equal. The Fig & Caramel is just amazing! I really hope the weather changes, I think this is a great addition to the Lane. I wish them every luck. And I'll be back, sun or no sun!
  15. This is such a great idea. Have pledged, anyone who has the odd pint or two local should drop over a bit. Just hope they get a few businessses putting bigger figures in or is at risk of not reaching target. Good luck to Arnold and his team!
  16. Yeah, I'd have to say all mine are just single vision...
  17. Hi, For a few years now I've bought mine online. For designer frames it is usually under ?100 including prescription& thinner lenses. Just go to D&A or Vision Express, get your test done and and ask for a copy of your prescription. Choose your frames and note down the number. Then go to an online retailer and put in the code, voila! Save ?300!! I've used these guys before http://www.selectspecs.com/ - I'll warn you, customer service is non-existent and you can wait two to three weeks but they do turn up. (I've also had lenses from them tested and they were apparently of excellent quality) Hope this helps!
  18. I think this is a good idea too. Can't see the reasons for objections tbh.
  19. Can you describe your issue(s)? If you have errors, please include the exact syntax of the messages. Also, please describe steps to reproduce the problem; lead-up and symptoms. Will do my best to help! (many problems are easy to fix and I loathe these companies that charge the value of a computer just to fix some bits)
  20. Oh my goodness, we've just witnessed the third RTA in three months at the eastern Lordship Lane end of Upland Road. Same as always, someone pulled out into traffic. Everyone seems OK, both drivers got out and pretty sure there were no passengers. Thank god. I actually park on that road and my goodness am I super careful whenever I pull onto Lordship Lane now. Is this being flagged on some system? Can we make this junction safer? James B, if you read this, do you know if anything is being done? (I've no idea what). I don't think there's been any fatalities yet but it seems like it's just a matter of time. I really hope everyone is OK in this latest accident.
  21. Oh goodness, that's dreadful. I hope the family are OK. Thanks for letting us know James.
  22. We've just had 6 fire engines, 2 police vans, 2 police cars, 3 unmarked police cars and an ambulance all head down Friern Road from the Lordship Lane end. Made a right racket for the last 20 mins. Anyone any idea what's going on?
  23. Just spoke to one of them, nice chap. They've got kindling and proper wood in the onion type bags. He says the wood is extremely dry, has been under cover drying for 18 months. He says it burns excellently. Prices are a bit better than the East Dulwich Texaco; added to the fact they're dry I'm defo giving these guys a go. Won't be for a week or so - if anyone uses them before, let us know how it burns!
  24. Agreed. Always friendly and helpful. So much easier than queuing with the Yummies further down too!
  25. I get the FCC from Denmark Hill each morning straight to Kentish. SLightly different branch but pretty much the same line. In emergencies (read: FCC breaking) there is a train from DH to Victoria, I can change to Victoria Line, then to Northern. It actually takes about the same time, ~30 mins; lot more changes though so I always press for the direct. Overall, I can say that it's a fantastic way to get to work. Door to door (from Dulwich) is only 5 mins more than my journey from London Fields was before I left. As said, very slightyly different from the Peckham/Nunhead route but times would basically be the same.
