  1. I think its a dog rather than a rat - which brings up another of the forums favourite subjects :P

  2. Yer but the recent change in permitted development rights would mean it wouldn't cost much to turn it into something else if the lease doesnt sell.

  3. I know this will sound bizarre but it worked for me the other day.

Stick some listerine in a spray bottle and spray the flies. It kills em quite quickly. We also sprayed our windo frames and door frames and not one fly has come back

Really weird I know but works.

  4. I should also add that a good vet is a real find and we are very very lucky to have two by the sounds it

We have ours insured for this reason alone.

    Hehe and me !

  7. I'm not so sure of that. My Fiance and I don't eat a lot of meat anymore for a couple of resons. The first is to save money - meat is very expensive - and second is that eating a lot of meat is bad for you. That means I've had to be much more creative with my cooking and while that's been a learning curve I'm now smashing out some pretty ineteresting stuff.

I agree that having seperate veggie restaurants does seem counter productive but t6he majority of people eat meat and there's only so much money you have to order supplies for the week of which meat is quite a pricey one. It must be difficult for restaurants to be able to provide a more comrehensive split menu.

  8. Hey SCSB79

It depends what the meter measures it in. More modern meters often measure at M3 but older one in ft3. But yes it could be that they have used a wrong calculation although nowadays that's very, very rare as the billing is automated.

Remember that prices went up by on average 11% for Gas across the board in October as well so a combination of increased prices and perhaps increased use as a result of a naff summer and prolonged winter could be the reason? Are you a Direct Debit Payer as well as depending on when the contract started could mean you not being able to average out your payments throughout the and having to pay a balnace at the end of each year i.e. if your contract started in winter your yearly consumption will appear bigger than if you start your contract in Summer.

And yes I totally am an energy geek and can recommend Uswitch - just be careful of cancellation charges that you can accrue moving from one supplier to another.

    :D

Is it an estimated bill or from a reading you took. If estimated it tends to pick a specific period of time and extrapolates that out. So if you were heating a 3 bed 24hours for a few days and it happens that the estimate calculations is based on that period then it will be abnormally high.

  10. I'm a long term cyclist who is just learning to drive and whilst I think there are horrendous drivers out there I am also absolutely paranoid about hitting someone on a bike and I have to admit a few have gone up the left hand side of me whilst driving, which is a very stupid thing to do as a driver won't be able to see you till quite late.

Personally I think there should be cycle high ways and cycling can and should be made more safe by way of creating seperate lanes etc where possible. Equally drivers need to take more care in assessing their surroundings when driving. Finally cyclists need to not take as many risks as they seemingly do to get somewhere faster - I'm not saying this happened in this instance as it sounds like a lousy driver but as a cyclists I use to dart in and out of traffic which I now realise is dangerous.

I think it's much more complex than crap drivers.

  11. Hi James

A bit of a moan about rubbish collecting I'm afraid. This morning the guys came and as we're three flats in a house we have 2 normal waste bins which today were full and had a couple of bags next to them for pick up. The guys left the bags next to the wheelie bins - which they had to move to get at the wheelie bins. Now given that collection is 2 every 2 weeks I suppose we'll fill our bins by a week saturday meaning more bags will be left ad infinitum we'll have a tip in our front garden.

It's happened before and last time I spoke to someone in the waset department I got some short shrift on how bags will only be collected if they're in the bins - seriously which jobsworth wrote this policy as it only causing waste to pile up on our streets!
