  1. Thanks carebear, that's really useful to know. I read on the TfL website that double pushchairs can get on at the back but single ones "have to" use the front, and if they don't fit you have to fold them to get down the aisle - which of course is impossible if you're on your own and there's a baby (and/or shopping) in the pushchair. It's a really stupid policy but if you find that most drivers will let you on the back then that's great. Thanks.
  2. After many hours of research, I'm thinking of buying the Uppababy Vista. We walk a lot so I want something sturdy, but when we're not walking we're usually on the bus. I'm worried that the Vista is very wide and this could be a problem, although according to Which it does fit on a bus. Can anyone tell me what this is like in reality? Does it fit on the front/down the aisle of a standard double decker? I know all pushchairs are buggered by the annoying pole in the wheelchair space if there's two of you in there, but does this squeeze in or is it going to be a real pain? Thanks! (p.s. I'm not interested in the Uppababy Cruz as wheels are too small for the off-roading we do).
  3. Hola, Mi hijo tiene un anyo y busco grupos hispanohablantes u otras familias bilingues con quienes puede jugar, en Herne Hill / East Dulwich / Tulse Hill / Brixton o por ahi. Si conoce alguno, enterame por favor!
  4. Would be interested too. He's just turned 10 months, still waking once or twice a night wanting milk and I'm going back to work soon...
  5. It's one of these - http://www.hippychick.com/index.cfm/product/hippychick-hipseat-15 (black) Save yourself a lot of back ache when carrying your baby/ toddler around. Easier than a baby sling particularly for using around the house because you just pop them on and off - ideal for toddlers who constantly want to be up and down. RRP = ?40, will sell for ?20.
  6. It's this one - http://www.philips.co.uk/c/avent-baby-preparing-for-feeding/scf274_51/prd/ Used but in perfect condition. In box, complete with brush, tongs and the free bottle. The only thing it doesn't still have is the two packets of cleaning granules as they were used but it has instructions in it for alternative cleaning methods (NB this is to clean the machine, not the bottles). Very simple to use and effective. See reviews on http://www.mumsnet.com/reviews/baby-feeding/sterilisers/9837-philips-avent-steam-steriliser RRP is ?40 (although it cost me more than that, grr!). Will sell for ?30 or closest offer.
  7. I know this is more Herne Hill than ED but as this forum is more active I thought I'd post here. I recently contacted Lambeth Council about dangerous dogs in Brockwell Park (by dangerous I mean "status" dogs and other fighting dogs, or large off-the-leash dogs with owners who clearly don't have them under control and don't care). I don't think dogs should be banned from the park but I'm sure I'm not the only parent who feels nervous about that kind of dog running around where small children are playing. I recently saw a little boy on his scooter being intimidated by a dog (that was bigger than the boy) in a fighting harness. The dog's owner had already wandered off and the poor kid was just crying and trying to shoo it away. I've also seen men training dogs for fights by hanging them from tree branches. I asked the police for information on dog crime in the area and their records showed that in the past year, four people have been attacked by dogs in the park. Lambeth Council said they recognised there was a problem and would look into taking action. Of course, the financial cost would be an issue but it also depended on whether they thought there was much public support for tackling it. If you'd like something done about this, please PM me and I will tell you who to contact to show your support. Also, if you've witnessed or experienced any incidents like the one I described above please PM me or post it here, so we can compile more examples to convince the Council to deal with this problem before some poor toddler gets mauled. Thanks
  8. I know this is more of an issue for the Herne Hill forum but as this forum is more active I'm posting it here - I've been in touch recently with Lambeth Council about the number of "status" dogs, and other dangerous breeds or out of control dogs in Brockwell Park. I don't think dogs should be banned from the park but I think some of them are a real danger to children. For example, a few weeks ago I saw a very young boy being thoroughly intimidated by an enormous mastiff in a fighting harness, whose owner was nowhere to be seen. I also saw a man blatantly training his dog for fighting, by encouraging it to hang from tree branches by its jaws. I also found out from the Met Police that in the last year alone three people have been attacked by out-of-control dogs in the park. The council replied to say they understood there was a problem and would look into taking action, but it would all depend on whether there was enough public interest (and money). So, if you are also concerned about this, please PM me and I'll let you know what you can do to help. Also, if you have seen incidents similar to the one I described above, please either post it here or PM me, so we can build a list of examples to share with the Council so they are motiviated to take action. Thanks
  9. Go here - http://occ.uk.com/ It is amazing. I had such bad SPD with my pregnancy that I could barely walk at all. I was in constant pain, day and night. The physio at Kings actually made it worse (I could hardly believe that was possible!). I finally went to this place in desperation. I was / am totally sceptical about all types of alternative medicine but this was recommended to me by a friend and I just couldn't believe the difference after just one session. On the way there I was shuffling along the street like a 90 year old - when I left I actually ran for the bus! I cannot recommend it highly enough.
