  8. I see you didnt comment on the fact that Alan medic also asked what liver pate is? So he's not serving FG - not sure why he didnt answer me that in the first place on Twitter. Amazing when it takes a vegan to set up a butcher day isnt it? Perhaps Hugeunot you could help? Or anyone else who repeatedly comments on my threads as pro-meaters. Or are you all content with merely commenting about things?
  9. Hey guys, What is corporate numbering? Ive been charged ?5 on my mobile bill and the number 05602534528 which I googled and it said it was corporate numbering. Ive googled this and couldn't find much - does anyone know what this is and how to stop it in the future? Thanks, Tom
  10. Yeh I saw that, but wasn't sure if it was indeed foie gras (can't you get liver pate that isnt FG?), not sure why he isnt using the wording foie gras? I did ask Rod but he said just check the website, he didnt say yes / no. I sign off Tom, Geoff, because I class these messages as little email type things, and it makes it less anonymous. Tom ps. foie gras pps, I always thought maxi was a women - named after maxidress or something. It confuses me that people dont use their real names on this community forum! ppps. Mamora man - please do stand up and protest, you'd be the only meat eater in dulwich to do so! Ive been trying to get a Support Your Local Butcher Day off the ground for ages but can't find anyone to help! email me on [email protected] if you can help. Im currently in talks with Franklins and Flock and Herd (Bellenden rd).
  11. Ha Alan, we don't have to leave it that late - well I'm not going to anyway! Tom
  12. I think he has heard the Dulwich vegans are starting our Meat Free Days again and is getting prepared. If you would like to try a meat free day, which reduces your carbon footprint, land, energy and water use, then why not tweet me at @DulwichVeganSoc and I'll send you some meat free ideas! Tom
  13. http://www.vegsoc.org/page.aspx?pid=520 Here is some more info for your minds! Water, land and energy. Tom
  14. Ha! Meat production creates more CO2 than the worlds ENTIRE transport systems. Thats a good reasons to do a meat free day. Drive a Hummer, Go Vegan. Everyone is a winner. Where abouts do you live in ED Huguenot? Tom
  15. http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/comment/whats-so-scary-about-a-vegetarian-future-8125768.html just saw this - interesting read and changing eating patterns
  16. Interestingly, (whether you choose to believe it or not) 'animal rights' are in third place for my reasons for being vegan and encouraging others to think about like without using animal products. Although I find the abuse of animals repulsive, my biggest concerns are the 1) destruction of the environment land / sea / energy and the 2) damaging of human health that come with our western view of animal product consumption. A small amount of research will tell you these are big issues, that even the EU and UN are starting to grapple with. Foie Gras and Circuses, (that have featured and received a great post response on EDF) aren't my main concerns. Perhaps on the EDF I should have simply focused on the promotion of meat free days. However, I focused on that outside the EDF (and received a positive response from schools, churches, local businesses, MPs and Councillors. I find it perplexing that people take shots at me, simply for getting involved in the community and trying tackle issues that I think are important. ps. If they don't use fleas - what do they use?
  17. Thanks Tessa! (much appreciated your meat free monday efforts!).
  18. Huggie - where have you been hiding. I have truly missed your imput. 'Thomas Micklewright' account doesnt work any more, I emailed the admin, but no reply. So I created 'Tom Micklewright'. Im hardly trying to hide my past posts. Im very open about the Dulwich Vegan and Veggie Society, campaigning against Foie Gras, always happy to chat to people etc. tweet me at @DulwichVeganSoc I'm thinking next of doing a campaign against the use of factory farmed animals used by shops like Favourite Chicken and Morleys and promoting meat free days in Dulwich (tackling obesity rates & damage to environment etc). I look forward to your review of that later! Tom ps.Love the use of the word 'subterfuge'. You make me sound like a mastermind. I do hope to meet all you EDF people one day!
  19. I love wagas, certainly support them moving in. Tom
  20. out of interest, where did they thread go, i cant find it?
  21. hahah foie gras was a good fun thread
  22. N.B: animal circuses aren?t my speciality, and I only popped along to the demo to see the people running it, who are from the animal charity: http://www.captiveanimals.org/our-work/circuses I did just turn up to say hello, as I run the local Vegan Society in Dulwich. @DulwichVeganSoc tweet me! Cruelty to through transport and confinement horses: http://www.ad-international.org/animals_in_entertainment/go.php?id=504&si=1&ssi=10 Replies to people: Saffron and Michael Palaeologus: legal standard in the UK - doesn't mean anything, there used to be a legal standard that said women and black people could not vote! (I dont expect to be take seriously) I do expect to stop things I dont like. You sound like a Dictator Michael! its called democracy, if you dont like it, change it. DJKIllaQueen - not sure why you are calling me an extremist, you are bad as Huguenot! Is it extreme that I don?t agree horses should be made to walk on 2 legs? Are walking horses natural? Alan Medic: although horse riding is the least of my concerns, I don?t agree with it. See here for the 300+ horses that die every year on UK courses: http://www.animalaid.org.uk/h/n/CAMPAIGNS/horse/ALL//video.htm Cactus ? yes agreed, transportation is an issue Steveo ? the fact that you bought up ants in a discussion about horses shows you?ve run out of steam! Note ? why people campaign against animals in circuses: Ethics: We maintain that forcing any animal to perform for human entertainment is unethical and cannot be justified. Furthermore, we believe that the use of animals in circuses sends a damaging message to the general public, and particularly children and young people, by the implication that animals can be manipulated for our amusement despite the animal gaining no benefit from the practice. The practice implies that the animals? own lives hold no inherent value in their own right; the use of circus animals therefore have negative educational impact. Welfare: By virtue of the travelling nature of many circuses, the temporary accommodation for animals, the confined quarters, the training practices and the exposure of animals to unnatural situations during performances, we maintain that animal welfare cannot be guaranteed in circuses. In addition, some species of animal may have the added disadvantage of being kept in an unnatural climate, unnatural social groupings and be prevented from carrying out their natural behaviours as a direct result of being kept by a circus. This is particularly the case with wild, or non-native species of animal. The Born Free Foundation, The British Veterinary Association, The Captive Animals? Protection Society and the RSPCA welcome the news that the Government has begun work on draft legislation to set out the exact details of the upcoming ban on the use of wild animals in circuses. We further restate our intention to support Government in any way possible in order to bring about the implementation of such a ban at the earliest possible opportunity. Does anyone know whether Zippo pay for the use of the park and pay for advertising on the railings etc? Tom ps. has anyone here eaten a horse before?
