  1. I want to recommend ED-based Sylvain Jullien (https://www.jullienlandscaping.co.uk/) who did a fantastic job on our front path with Edwardian tiles, a new fence and York-stone entrance. The team are really talented and I particularly liked their attention to detail. They worked hard to get the job finished as fast as possible. I liked that they really listened to our plans and sought out reconditioned tiles to get the look we wanted, even reusing some of our existing tiles to save us money where they could. Also, they were very pleasant to deal with and got on well with our neighbours, which always helps! Thought I'd post something as it took me a while to find someone who could do the job the way I wanted and I'm really pleased with the result. It's nice to find a local craftsman who clearly takes a lot of pride in their work. :) Kate
  2. Just wanted to recommend carpet fitter Jim Cox who we used two weeks ago. I got in touch with him after reading great reports on this forum so thought I would pass on my recommendation, too. The Forum hasn't let me down yet! Jim carpeted two flights of stairs and four bedrooms after sourcing the carpet we wanted at a good price. He did everything with minimum fuss - working around builders who were busy ferrying cement into the back garden and he also managed not to wake our baby during the lunchtime nap! Very pleasant chap who did it all in a couple of days and we're really happy with the results. If you're reading this, Jim, sorry I wasn't there in person to say thanks. Good job! I'm sure he won't mind me sharing his details, which are: [email protected]. Tel: 07901 834901 Kate Harrison
  3. We're looking for someone to clean our three bedroom house once a week, ideally on a Thursday or Friday for four hours. On top of cleaning duties, we're also looking for someone who is happy to change sheets and take the laundry away for washing/ironing, etc. Can anyone recommend someone able to help in this capacity? If so, please reply to the thread or DM me. Thanks! K Harrison
  4. I got married in October 2013 and we used some great local suppliers that really do deserve a shout out. It's hard to rave about these people without it sounding like a plug but given that they were all really reasonably priced I thought it was the least I could do. Amanda Roberts from East Dulwich did the hair and make-up for me, my mum and bridesmaids and was absolutely excellent. Initially I didn't want professional make up but she really made a big difference. I didn't really want to look 'made up' and she does a really natural look which was just what I wanted. Her and her colleague Shelley were completely unflappable on the day as well and complete professionals. http://www.hairandmakeup4u.com/ For flowers we used the fantastic Wendy at AG Flowers in Nunhead. She was absolutely superb and really reasonable. Again, a total pro. And the band Bare Groove (based in Crystal Palace) were just amazing (although they have a terrible name). They had a full brass section and, again, were really reasonably priced. They were just brilliant. So much energy, fantastic classic soul songs and provided their own lights/sound/DJ in between. I was terrified that we would end up with a band playing Tina Turner or some really cheesy songs so was delighted that they were just amazing. http://www.baregroove.com/ It's so easy when you get busy in the run up to the wedding to just look up companies online that are based in the West End but we wanted to support local businesses where we could and they delivered over and above anything we could have expected! If you're reading this - thanks guys! Kate Harrison Nunhead.
