  1. My 10 month old sleeps for three hours in the morning and an hour in the afternoon. She goes down at 7 and gets up at 7. I'm not sure how I got it so good but I'm sure it will change as time goes on. I do know that we are very active when she is awake. We go to the park, swimming, soft play and she is an early (nearly) walker. They are all different I suppose.

I agree with the falling asleep thing. My girl goes down at 9am and if she doesn't, I find her asleep on the floor.

  2. I did give birth in June last year. It seemed so did half of Camberwell. I really did enjoy being in 'screaming' labour in the hallway in front of people coming to visit. I understand that the whole of south London is trying to move here to breed and Kings did warn me that they had been turning people away all week for lack of beds.

Here, here with the food. I lived off cold Nandos and Spice is Nice.

  3. So many books... not enough time. All these books did was made me confused. Was it 6am when I was supposed to be waking up my happily sleeping child to eat or was that when I was using black plastic to block out the world and keep my babies room dark? I found the internet mother chat rooms helpful and I really did trust my instincts. My child is great, happy... some may even say a contented baby.

My mum on the other end of the phone was a great help too.

  4. I had my first child there. I must admit that the maternity ward was pretty bad. It was so incredibly hot that I could not sleep. After a two day labour, I ended up having an epidural. After my child was born (about 1 am in the morning and my husband went home to bed), they placed me in a recovery room and left me there alone for at least five hours. I couldn't pick my newborn child up properly or place her back in the cot without fear of falling off the bed because I couldn't feel my legs. Not one person watched to see if I could breast feed. I know that the staff is spread thin on the ward but I had bloodied sheets piled in a corner of my 'room' for two days (with many nice requests about them being removed). When I eventually signed myself out, they were still there.

On the bright side - when things did go wrong with my birth the 'A Team' doctors were amazing and very professional. It was just the non aftercare that was pants.

  5. Melbourne Grove has just started a new way of booking an appointment. Now I have to call them and they get someone to call me back, talk to me about the problem and asses me. I can understand that they are busy but my 10 month old daughter is running a fever and hasn't eaten solid foods for over a week.

Next I'll be asked to 'press one if your problem has to do with your ear.'

  6. I've been in Australia for the past four months and on returning back to South London I realise how aggressive the driving is around here. I nearly hit a motorbike at the corner of Peckham Rye when I was turning right because he jumped the lights. I ended up having to stop and getting stuck in the middle of the intersection getting abused by pedestrians. Although I do find it hard down Lordship Lane too. It seems that all the pedestrians wander across the road without looking. I understand that the road is getting very popular but it only takes two seconds to look both ways.
