  1. Anne Maple, 15A Edric Rd, New Cross, London SE14 5EN. 020 7358 9888 / 07436816954 Hi Are there any stalls left please and if so how much please?. I run a small not for profit charitable group called The Ark helping people struggling to keep their pets, homeless people and their dogs, fostering pets for people being evicted, homing strays etc. I have run the animal food collection box in Morrisons Peckham for 13 years. We have enough stock to do a christmas stall of a raffle of ten or so prizes and handmade cards and other xmas items. Many thanks Anne Maple
  2. Hello I am an older lady who has lived in the area all my life. After a varied career history - nursing, library assistant etc, I have been doing cleaning work since 2010. I have full public liability insurance and excellent references. I clean in Crofton and Vestry road SE5 as well as in the Telegraph Hill areas and am desperately looking for more work - at least 3 hours. I suffer from arthritis but I meet all your criteria. I charge ?10ph ono and provide all my own cleaning materials except a hoover and mop. I would love to do a trial to show you what I can do please. Many thanks Anne Maple
  3. I am 60 years old and have arthritis in my feet, hands, back and knee. I do cleaning jobs and regularly advertize on this forum. I have excellent references. My income has been topped up by DWP ESA for a year now on medical grounds. I found out yesterday I had failed a DWP medical despite the state of my hands and feet. My benefit top up was stopped with no warning yesterday and i am required to sign on Jobseekers for unrestricted full time work which I could not do. An appeal will take months and if the PIP assessment was anything to go by it will be a waste of time. I urgently need 3 more jobs at least to make ends meet. I can clean easy flats with a few stairs, I can do ironing and feed pets. Not big houses. I normally charge ?10 ph and provide all my own cleaning materials except a hoover. I will consider anything. New Cross, Telegraph Hill Nunhead, Peckham Camberwell or anywhere near a bus stop from New Cross prefered. Any houses with new students nearby that need a cleaner? Anyone want a cleaner to come in and leave everything clean and tidy with washing and ironing done while they are at work?. I have excellent references from students who have just graduated and moved on, and other clients. My details are as follows: Anne Maple 15A Edric Rd New Cross SE14 5EN 0207 358 9888 07436816954 [email protected] I am an older person who was born on Telegraph Hill and have lived all my life on Telegraph Hill and in New Cross. After a lifetime of careers as a Nursing Auxiliary, Librarian, Teaching Assistant, Met Police PCSO and Detention Officer, Residential Home Laundry Manager and RHS Gardener, I have run my own registered sole trader cleaning/gardening business for the last few years, working mostly in Dulwich. After a broken leg in 2013 I am now working closer to home within walking/bus distance of my home in New Cross. I was expecting to retire in February 2015 but the government requires me to work a further six years so I am very successfuly earning a pre retirement living by cleaning small flats and ironing. I have excellent references. I am CRB checked and have Public Liability Insurance. My extensive CV is available via email. I can also do small pet sitting. I run my own animal rescue group and work closely with local animal charities so I have lots of experience with animals. I usually charge ?10ph and provide all my own cleaning materials, do please contact me for a free quote. Many thanks, Anne Maple
  4. Following a recent thresd it is generally accepted in the better households that: 1.Anyone who has a job such as a council refuse collector or postman with a regular paid wage and paid sick leave and holidays can be given a small gratuity in appreciation of their work if it is deserved and within your means to do so. 2.Anyone who relies on you for their wages and in particular gets no sick pay or paid holidays should have a week off and a weeks pay in terms of a gratuity, as well as a small gift if possible. Over a life time of hard work my fortunes have risen and fallen. I have both worked as a servant, employed help in my own home myself while working in highly paid jobs, and am now reliant on small self employed part time jobs again. I never realized just how much the weeks wages meant to the people I gave it to at the time they were working for me until I became disabled myself. On ?74 pw ESA benefit my bills of rent and utility come to ?300 a month. What I earn, and am only able to earn half of what I am legally allowed to earn on benefits goes on food and second hand shop clothes. Over Christmas, holiday periods or in times when I am too ill to work there is nothing coming in. Most of the families I have worked for in East and West Dulwich have been extremely well educated and thoughtful, particularly at Christmas. Not everyone who needs help can afford to be as generous as they would like to be towards the people working for them and that is perfectly acceptable. The best Christmas I can remember while working as a cleaner was when one family who had help because they had a large family rather than a large income, asked me rather cautiously if there was any chance I could come in over Christmas - even on Boxing Day???- to help them clear up. Could I just! The cats and I had such a party with what they had left over and would have thrown out. When you lay off the people who have helped you all year just stop to think what Christmas is like for the self employed...
  5. Hi I have run my own cleaning/gardening business for the last five years mostly in the East Dulwich and Telegraph Hill areas. I advertize on both forums. I am a registered sole trader with full public liabilty insurance. I have worked as a manager in a laundry and am excellent at cleaning. 6. You need to state what your FOOD HYGIENE QUALIFICATIONS are and your PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE etc. It is not legal in this country to just sell food you have made for other people without the proper authorization.

  9. Hello, are you still looking for someone to do ironing and if so are you on the Nunhead/Peckham/Camberwell side of East Dulwich???. I am returning to work after 7 months off with a broken leg and foot and am interested in any kind of work. I am excellent at ironing. I spent 5 years as the laundry manager at the prestigious Morden College residential home in SE3. I am an older person who was born on Telegraph Hill and have lived all my life in Telegraph Hill and New Cross. 10. If you have a good Doctor then keep him, ED is only ten minutes drive away. The voice of experience!!! The Turnham Rd Group Practice and Queens Rd Practice are near: large multi doctor practices, I have seen one of the surgeries packed with 20 people in an evening queue to see the receptionists and a warning notice on one practice wall to only discuss one problem at an appointment. There is the Waldron Centre too near New Cross station but with multi doctor practices that large, the more people attending a practice the more likely you are to catch something else. There is one small surgery on the hill in Vesta Rd with two doctors who are very nice but very slow. Suggest you read the NHS reviews. The best Doctor in the area was closed down as his practice was a house with no disabled access. Yes, we do tend to use the EDF, Telegraph Hill is as it says just a hill and small surrounding area. It is an old plague burial ground so it is not permitted to trade on it and open shops etc, although the Hill Cafe get away with it and quite a bit goes on at the community centre, so it is very nice but very quiet, you have to go to ED for anything interesting. I was born here nearly 60 years ago so I know it well. You dont need a cleaner when you get here do you?. I advertize on Trades and Services on THF- anne maple 100. Best of luck in your new home. Anne
  11. Hello, How far away are you?. I used to run my own self employed cleaning/gardening business in the Dulwich area but gave up owning a car this year so now usually only work in the Telegraph Hill/ Nunhead area close to where I live in New Cross. I have some vacant slots at present and as some of my regular clients are still on holiday if this is a one off job I could do it before Thursday. I am CRB checked, have Public Liability Insurance and excellent references. I usually charge ?10ph but this is negotiable. I can email you my CV from my email address: [email protected] and my telephone numbers are 020 7358 9888/07436816954. Many thanks, Anne Maple
  12. Hi, There is a company in New Cross that does reasonably priced awning and they are very good. They are called 'Shades' and are in The Apollo Business Centre, 158 Trundleys RD, SE8 5JE. Telephone 0208 694 2617. I have just bought awning material from them for a home made stall for craft fairs. They supply and install awning but the fixings can be bought with the materials separately for a DIY job. They are very helpful especially if you have a budget to stick to. A friend also bought a ready made awning in Macros SE10, which was easy to install himself and is brilliant, but that was a few summers back, I don't know if they will sell them this summer. You have to have a trade card to buy there but lots of people or clubs have them and someone would help you out. I am entitled to one if you need it. Good luck with your purchase. Anne
  13. ?8 CASH IN HAND JOBS...I am a registered self employed Cleaner/Gardener with full enhanced CRB check, Public liability insurance, good references etc and I charge ?8ph for both cleaning and gardening. As long as customers pay up I do not mind what form the payment is made in as it is all paid into my bank account and declared in my tax returns. Cash is easiest as direct debit payments have to be refunded if you need a day off and I once had a bank put a nought on the amount to be refunded which was a worry until it was sorted out. I charge what I consider to be a very reasonable rate because I am an older person and although I am very fit and active I know I work very slightly slower than a younger person. Please do not think lower rates might be undeclared income/uninsured work~ it might be someone like me who is older or building up a self employed business because they have found themselves unemployed like I did. I began two years ago by asking people if I could cut their hedges for ?3 for half an hours work in my determination to find work. Working without insurance is illegal and Public Liability Insurance is not expensive- I pay ?5 a month with Direct line- and undeclared cash in hand work is also illegal, no one should be employing uninsured workers or people not declaring their income. It is as easy to ask prospective employees for certificated proof as it is to ask for references and I take my documents along to an interview with me- not doing so is unfair to genuine workers like me and to the Tax payers. A CRB check is more difficult as it can cost around ?50 and is a big expense, so is providing a passport for ID purposes if you have never needed one to go on holiday, someone should get the Government to revise those issues.
