  1. Does anyone know why this is still empty?? I have a dream..... a dream that the people of Peckham Rye/East Dulwich club together and create the BEST CAFE EVER!! Everyone is welcome (that includes buggies), the coffee is superb, the food is delicious, seasonal and locally sourced, the service is prompt and speedy. If anyone else who has/wants to work in the catering business feels the same then lets get together and see if we can't somehow raise the funds to make this happen!
  2. I have just visited the Treehouse in Brixton and cannot get over what a great idea it is:

The creche is better kitted out than most nurseries I've been to with a climbing wall, ball pit, trampoline etc. It is all new and lovely and the staff are so nice. I didn't think that I would find a solution to be able to do some work without being too far away from my daughter but this is just perfect. I'm writing this so more people can go and check it out as they are so new and need support.

  3. I wonder if any of you wise forumites can help me out? My 7 month old has gone from sleeping through the night til 7 to now deciding that 4.30 is wake up and play time. I have tried all the obvious methods - earlier to bed, later to bed, dark room, less naps in the day, feeding her and nothing works. She is genuinely wide awake and ready to start the day. Does anyone have any advice as I can't believe I now call 6am a lie in?!
  4. Otta - I am certainly not using the word 'discriminate' to imply we are suffering from some great miscarriage of justice when people don't want buggies around but it IS a form of discrimination to refuse to serve people with small children. Buggies are a neccessity to transport said small children around. I can only speak for myself but I would much rather not have to have one and have my baby magically walk from birth but that isn't happening. Therefore people could be a bit nicer about them as we are not all crazed power mothers with a sense of entitlement.
  5. The Gardens has so little going for it anyway - totally overpriced, ridiculously long waits for food and drink and a hostile manager (I was actually about to go in with my friend and our buggies and saw the above incident occur). People should vote with their wallets, there are plenty of lovely child friendly cafe's around that do not discriminate. It's not as if the Gardens is in the heart of the city with hundreds of office workers clamouring for tables - we ARE their bread and butter!
  6. Hey there,

I have a little 4 month old daughter and due to a busy summer have been pretty lax at mingling with local mummies and daddies. Without causing offence to anyone, am looking to meet some parents who are interested in hanging out and discussing movies, books, fashion, theatre and mindless celebrity gossip not nappies, drool and school waiting lists (although that has a very important place in the world of chat too!). If anyone is interested let me know and hopefully we can get a few like minded peeps together.
